CLED 888 Praxis IV: Implementation I

Under the supervision of a faculty member, the student will plan and design an approved program, product, or process that serves as an artifact demonstrating and applying the student’s doctoral-level scholarship and professionalism as related to their cognate field of study.

Social research focuses on people in their contexts. This course will equip the student to plan and develop the Dissertation-in-Praxis Proposal. This course will also enable the student to present the proposal and complete the approval process. This course serves as preparation for the field implementation phase of the research conducted in the CLED889 course that follows.

Discussion (1)

Discussions are collaborative learning experiences. There is one discussion required in this course. After completing the reading and watch the videos requires, the student will post one thread of at least 300 words. The student must then post 2 replies of at least 150 words. For each thread and reply, students must support their assertions with at appropriate citations in APA format. Acceptable sources include the textbook, the Bible, scholarly words and popular writings. (CLOs: A, B, C)

The doctoral candidate will write The Problem in Praxis – Part 1 to be included in the first chapter of the Dissertation-in-Praxis Proposal. The first draft of chapter one, part one must be a minimum of 7 pages and follow current APA style requirements. This a first draft and will be re-submitted again, later in the course, as part of the entire Dissertation-in-Praxis Proposal Document. (CLO: A)

This assignment serves two purposes. First, it serves as a comprehensive exam. Second, it serves as the first draft of one section of the Dissertation-in-Praxis Proposal document. As exam one, it will allow the student to demonstrate that they can relate and integrate themes developed in CLED700, CLED720, and CLED800 with their topic. The exam is to be written as a minimum of 10-page section of the Dissertation-in-Praxis Proposal document. It will be retained and revised for later use in the course. (CLO: A)

This assignment serves two purposes. First, it serves as a comprehensive exam. Second, it serves as the first draft of one section of the Dissertation-in-Praxis Proposal document. Exam two will allow the student to demonstrate that they can relate and integrate themes developed in CLED815, CLED820, CLED835, CLED845, and CLED855 with their topic. The exam is to be written as a minimum of 10-page section of the Dissertation-in-Praxis Proposal document. It will be retained and revised for later use in the course. (CLO: A)

This task aims to provide the student with an understanding of the strategic planning process and its relationship to developing a strategic plan. This content will then be applied to the process of devising a strategic plan appropriate to a praxis problem within an organizational context. (CLO: A)

This task aims to provide the student with an understanding of logical models used in strategic planning and program design. This content will then be applied to the process of devising a strategic plan appropriate to a praxis problem within an organizational context. (CLO: A)

This assignment will involve the development of a strategic plan to be implemented as part of the Dissertation-in-Praxis Proposal. Chapter three of the proposal involves a detailed plan to implement a program, process, or product designed to address a practical problem within a specific context. Customization of the plan is essential because contexts differ. Therefore, the student will develop a strategic plan that will most effectively address the particular “praxis problem” facing the collaborating organization or context. While planning, design, and processes will vary based on the praxis problem being addressed and the collaborating organization or content, the strategic plan format will be consistent with the Dissertation-in-Praxis Proposal outline found in the Program Handbook. The student will prepare the Dissertation-in-Praxis Proposal document for review by the course instructor/supervisor. This document must combine the content of Chapter One, Two and Three previously submitted in this course including any revisions requested by the course instructor/supervisor. The document must follow current APA style requirements. (CLOs: A, B)

This task aims to allow the student to review the Dissertation-in-Praxis Proposal with the course professor in preparation for a more formal presentation to the leadership of the collaborating organization. The student will create a PowerPoint presentation and then use MS Teams to present the proposal to the professor and fellow coursemates. (CLOs: A, B, C)

This task allows the student to report all approvals required to begin the field research aspect of the Dissertation-in-Praxis project. Three documents are submitted for this task: the proposal signature page, the organizational permission letter, and the IRB application documentation. (CLO: C)
