CLCM 489 Christian Ministry Capstone Seminar
Course Description
This required course will be completed in the senior year of the student’s degree program and will be based on the knowledge and skills acquired in earlier course work. This course reflects on and utilizes the concepts learned throughout the program and gives the students the opportunity to showcase their understanding of key strategies and skills related to gospel-centered ministry endeavors.

Rationale
The purpose of the capstone course is to guide the student in synthesizing and integrating his/her knowledge and understanding of applied ministry practices and processes. The course is to be taken in the final semester of the student’s program to allow for a full incorporation of all prior course work. The course will provide the student an opportunity to demonstrate his/her understanding of biblical ministry principles while also applying practical ministry skills.

Ministry Calling Assignment
The student will write a 1–2 page paper that provides a philosophy of ministry statement as well as an overview of his or her own sense of calling to ministry. The student will also create a resource that introduces the concept of a Call to Ministry to others. The written elements of the assignment must be in current Turabian format. (CLOs: B, C, E)
Discussion: Preparing for the Capstone Ministry Event
Discussions are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, the student is required to create a thread in response to the provided prompt in the discussion. The thread must be a minimum of 300 words and demonstrate course-related knowledge. In addition to the thread, the student is required to reply to 2 other classmates’ threads. Each reply must be a minimum of 150 words. (CLOs: C, E)
Theology of Ministry Assignment
The student will articulate key theological issues as they relate to ministry. The written elements of the assignment must be in current Turabian format. (CLOs: B, D)
Ministry Strategy: Rationale and Outcome Assignment
The student will develop a detailed planning strategy which will be used to shape and guide an upcoming ministry event. These assignments will aid the student in the execution and evaluation of their ministry event assignment. (CLOs: A, C, D, E)
The student will develop a promotional strategy which will be used to shape and guide an upcoming ministry event. These assignments will aid the student in the execution and evaluation of their ministry event assignment. (CLOs: A, C, D, E)
Navigating Ministry Challenges Assignment
This assignment will enable the student to consider, explore, and prepare for common challenges that are experienced in ministry. (CLOs: A, C, E)
Ministry Event Assignment
The student will host and then evaluate a brief ministry event. (CLOs: A, C, D, E)
