Course Description
This course is designed to increase the understanding of the criminal judicial process in the United States. It includes a study of the functioning of courts, judges, lawyers and law enforcement agencies, including judicial decision-making and the impact of court decisions on the American Republic.

Discussions (2)
Discussions are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, the student will complete 2 Discussions in this course. The student will post one thread of at least 250 words on Friday of the assigned Module: Week. The student must then post 2 replies of at least 200 words on Monday of the assigned Module: Week. For each thread, the student must support their assertions with at least 2 scholarly citations in APA format. Each reply must incorporate at least 1 scholarly citation in APA format. Any sources cited must have been published within the last ten years. (Acceptable sources include the textbook, the Bible, etc.).
Reflection Exercise Assignment
The student will demonstrate his/her ability to apply what he/she has learned over the duration of this course. For each of the two (2) questions the student chooses to answer, the student must respond using a minimum of 250–300 words. The student's thoughtful criminal justice analysis will require each major point be supported by at least one peer-reviewed source published in the past 10 years and the integration of relevant material from the textbook in every response. Clarity, spelling and grammar are evaluated. In-text citations and all sources are to be in current APA format. A reference page must also be included at the end of the paper.
Each module has a “You Decide Part 1 – Choose Your Path” assignment. Each assignment will place the student in the role of a Criminal Justice professional seeking to make informed decisions regarding important criminal justice issues. Each scenario is accompanied by critical thinking review questions. The student is allowed multiple attempts to analyze the scenario, answer the review questions, and assess the impact of his/her decisions on the issues. Each test will be open-book/open-notes. There is no time limit and no limit on the number of attempts, in order for the student to evaluate the impact of different answers to the review questions. Each “You Decide Part 1 – Choose Your Path” is worth 10 points. The highest score of all of the student's attempts will be recorded as the grade.
Quiz
Each module will have a quiz composed of questions based on the Learn material for the assigned module. Each quiz may include multiple-choice and essay questions. Each quiz will be open-book/open-notes and have a 40-minute time limit. The student may attempt each quiz up to three times. The highest score of the student's three attempts will be recorded.
Quiz
Each quiz will cover the material for one or more modules. They will be open-book/open-notes and have a 1-hour and 30-minute time limit. Each quiz will include multiple-choice, true/false, and essay questions.
