Rationale
This Counseling Internship course involves participation in a planned clinical experience in an approved agency or other setting under an approved supervisor. The internship is the culminating experience of the MA licensure programs. The purpose of the Counseling Internship is to provide a supervised, field-based work experience that allows students to:
- Further continue to integrate and synthesize counseling theories and techniques.
- Develop more fully the personal qualities, characteristics, and behavior of a professional counselor.
- Develop more advanced clinical reasoning and conceptualization skills.

Quiz: Policy
The quiz will cover the Marriage and Family Therapy Internship Fieldwork Manual. The student will have 60 minutes to choose the correct answer for 1 true/false question.
Quiz: ACA Code of Ethics
The quiz will cover the American Counseling Association (ACA) code of ethics. The student will have 60 minutes to choose the correct answer for 25 multiple-choice and true/false questions.
Quiz: Liability Insurance Verification
Students must submit a copy of liability insurance in order to prove that they have maintained liability insurance throughout the Practicum and the three Internship courses. No student may begin or remain in practicum or an internship without appropriate liability insurance.
Quiz: Site and Supervisor Information
Students will have 60 minutes to answer two short-answer questions.
Reading Quizzes (7)
The student will complete 4 reading quizzes over chapters 4–7 of the Jungers & Scott textbook. The student will have 30 minutes to choose the correct answer for 5 multiple-choice questions. The student will also complete three reading quizzes that cover chapters 1, 3, and 4 of the Thomas textbook. The student will have 30 minutes to choose the correct answer for 5 multiple-choice questions.
Quiz: Suicide Risk Assessment
This quiz covers the article titled “The process of suicide risk assessment: Twelve core principles” that can be found in the Learn section of Module 2: Week 2. Students will have 60 minutes to answer 10 multiple-choice questions.
Quiz: Telemental Health Policy Form Submission
Students will locate the Telemental Health Policy Form in the Explore: Clinical Mental Health Practicum and Internship Resources item found in the Module 2: Week 2 Learn section and upload it to this quiz.
Quiz: Telemental Health Training Completion Certificate Submission
Students will locate the Telemental Health Training Completion Certificate in the Explore: Clinical Mental Health Practicum and Internship Resources item found in the Module 2: Week 2 Learn section and upload it to this quiz.
Case Conceptualization Assignments (2)
Students will complete at least two taped counseling sessions with verbatim transcriptions.
Quiz: HIPAA Privacy Authorization and Release Confirmation Form (2)
Students will complete a quiz for each Case Presentation Assignment to verify their clients have completed and signed the HIPAA Privacy Authorization & Release Confirmation Form, provided a copy to their client, and retained copy for themselves that has been stored in a secure location. Note: A copy of the signed form should not be uploaded for this quiz.
Quiz: State Requirements Checklist
The student will go to their state board’s website to review their Rules and Regulations regarding the practice of professional counseling or marriage and family therapy (depending on which degree program the student is enrolled in) and complete the information needed. Each state requires different coursework and different amounts and types of student practicum and internship hours. It is the student’s responsibility to know what is required by his/her state.
Quiz: Supervisor Evaluation (2)
Students will download the “Midterm/Final Evaluation” forms found on the either the Quiz: Supervisor Evaluation: Midterm page or the Quiz: Supervisor Evaluation: Final page. and give them to his/her supervisor(s) to complete. Students will then scan the evaluation forms and submit them via them to the respective quiz. Students who do not receive passing evaluations during the course will work with the supervisor and Liberty University internship faculty to develop a plan to correct any deficits. An “F” in the practicum/internship due to unethical or improper behavior at a site results in expulsion from the Center for Counseling and Family Studies.
Interview Project Assignment
Students will conduct an interview with their licensed supervisor, a licensed individual at their site or any licensed individual in their community (must be licensed in the respective field the student is seeking his or her degree; LPC or LMFT). This interview will consists of questions regarding the profession of counseling and explore the perspective of their supervisor. Students are encouraged to be creative and professional with their questions to gain the most information for this project.

Students will complete this quiz to prepare for their second semester of internship.

This Dispositions Reflection quiz asks students to rate themselves on the nine dispositions required for this program by our accrediting bodies using the provided scale.
Quiz: Student Evaluation of Site and Supervisor
Students will complete the Quiz: Student Evaluation of Site and Supervisor Template and upload it to this quiz.
Quiz: Diagnosis
This Quiz: Diagnosis will cover the textbook material for Module 3: Week 3 and include 5 multiple-choice and true/false questions. You will have 25 minutes to complete the quiz.
