Rationale
The pursuit of theoretical and practical knowledge may involve quantitative, qualitative or mixed methods approaches. Each requires an appreciation of how to build upon existing research by critically analyzing findings, implications, limitations and assumptions. The significance of the student’s preferred paradigm, intended research problem, and purpose statement are explored.

Course Requirements Checklist
After reading the Course Syllabus and Student Expectations, the student will complete the related checklist found in the Course Overview.
Discussions (4)
Discussions are collaborative learning experiences. The student will complete 4 distinct discussions. Please refer to the Discussion Assignment Instructions for each discussion. The student’s initial post should be a minimum of 500 words and no more than 550 words and draw on at least 4 scholarly peer reviewed journal articles published within the last 5 years. The student will then reply to at least two peers (250-300 words each) using at least 2 peer reviewed journal articles published within the last 5 years. Please note the biblical integration requirement does not contribute to the word count.
The student will discuss the art of critical thinking and why it is important in research. The student will also identify biases in research and articulate how he/she can impact the validity and credibility of a research study. Finally, the student will explain how his/her biblical worldview informs his/her perspective on research. This assignment should be 700-1000 words, excluding title page, biblical integration of verses, and references.
The student will develop and apply critical thinking skills to pursue any topic of inquiry. A doctoral-level literature review requires analysis and evaluation of the existing peer-reviewed research. The student will be required to critically analyze 2 provided peer-reviewed journal articles drawing on supporting and alternative perspectives in the existing body of research. Each assignment will be one to two pages, plus the completed template as an appendix.
The problem frame is the cornerstone or foundation upon which credible and robust research is built. It provides the significance and justification for designing and conducting a research effort to expand knowledge to add to the existing body of literature. The student will draw upon earlier learning to conduct further independent research to find a scholarly peer-reviewed journal article that is relevant to the discipline of business or organization and management. This assignment should provide deep, unbiased discussion on the reasons for proposing further research based on the single main article that has laid the ground for future research. The student will follow the detailed instructions provided to prepare a problem frame, the context and/or environment, theoretical or conceptual themes, what has already been done to address the problem in the extant research and an outline for expanding knowledge on the problem while avoiding bias.
