Rationale
The purpose of this course is to analyze and apply negotiation and conflict resolution skills in accordance with a Christian worldview. These communication skills are foundational in creating lasting relationships, serving employees, and obtaining desired outcomes in the daily operations of an HR professional.

Discussions (5)
Discussions are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, the student must complete 5 graded Discussions throughout the course. The purpose of Discussion is to generate interaction among students regarding relevant current course topics. The student is required to post 1 thread of at least 400 words within the Discussion. The student will then post 2 substantive replies of at least 250 words each. Each response post must be original. For each thread, the student must cite at least 4 sources, including both course textbooks, the Bible, and 1 scholarly source. For each reply, the student must cite at least 3 sources, including 1 of the course textbooks, the Bible, and 1 scholarly source.
Research Paper Assignment
The student is to write a research paper on non-verbal communication. This assignment must be completed in current APA format and include at least 7 pages of content, not including the title page, reference page, and table of contents. The goal of this assignment is to assess current literature related to non-verbal communication, as well as to apply non-verbal communication to high-stakes conversations, negotiating, and the Bible. The paper must include an introduction, body of research on non-verbal communication, discussion on the effects of non-verbal communication during a crucial conversation and when negotiating, a discussion on non-verbal communication in the Bible, and a conclusion. The student is required to substantiate his/her writing with at least 6 scholarly sources in addition to both course textbooks and the Bible. The paper must utilize level 1 headings as required.
Literature Review Assignment
The student will write a systematic literature review on the effects of communication in negotiations. The intent of this assignment is to explore current literature and research on how communication impacts negotiations. This assignment must be completed in current APA format and include at least 7 pages of content, not including the title page, abstract, and reference page. The paper must include a title page, abstract, introduction, a comprehensive review of 9 scholarly articles and the Bible, a conclusion, and references. Content should utilize level 1 headings. The student is required to substantiate his/her writing with at least 9 scholarly sources, in addition to the Bible.
Quizzes (8)
During this course, the student will be required to complete 8 open-book/open-note quizzes. Each quiz will consist of 10 multiple-choice questions comprised of information discussed in the Essentials of Negotiation weekly reading. Quizzes will be limited to 30 minutes and allow 1 attempt.
