Rationale
The purpose of this construction management fundamentals course is to provide the student with a foundational understanding of construction project management, the project team, the use of construction documents and drawings, project planning, jobsite layout, and personnel and safety management. This course bridges core business concepts with industry-specific practices, preparing the student to effectively lead construction projects and make strategic decisions.

Discussions (4)
Discussions are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, the student is required to provide a thread in response to the provided prompt for each discussion. Each thread must be at least 500 words and demonstrate course-related knowledge and include 2 scholarly peer-reviewed sources, and a biblical principle in current APA format. In addition to the thread, the student is required to reply to 2 other classmates’ threads. Each reply must be 300 words and contain 1 scholarly peer-reviewed source and a biblical principle in current APA format. Any sources cited must have been published within the last 5 years. Acceptable sources include peer-reviewed journal articles, textbooks, etc. Additionally, Biblical integration must be included using the Bible for each post (main and replies) as instructed. Case Study Assignments (3)
The student will complete the evaluation and analysis of 3 assigned case studies and respond to the questions related to each. Each case study must be a minimum of 750 words and include a minimum of 3 scholarly, peer-reviewed sources in current APA format. In addition, sources must also include the course textbooks and the Bible. The student will also be required to integrate a biblical perspective within each submission. (CLO: A, B, C, E, F)

Case Study: Managing Submittals for Project Success Assignment
This case study addresses the role of a junior construction manager tasked with working on a large-scale commercial building project. The project includes complex mechanical systems, custom architectural finishes, and sustainable materials that require a tightly managed submittal process.
Case Study: Safety Management and Organizational Responsibility on the Construction Site Assignment
This case study addresses the role of a newly appointed assistant project manager on a mid-size commercial construction project tasked with evaluating the current safety practices, identifying breakdowns in communication or policy, and recommending a revised approach to safety management that reflects both sound business administration principles and a biblical worldview.
Research Paper Assignment
The student will write a research-based paper in current APA format that will apply theories, concepts, and principles learned from the course to explain the importance of the role of a construction manager to the world of business. A portion of the paper should also include biblical integration to explain how the role of a construction manager can be influenced through a biblical perspective. The paper must be a minimum of 1,500 words and include 5 scholarly, peer-reviewed references in addition to the course textbooks and the Bible. (CLO: E, F)
