BUSI 344 Human Resource Management in Healthcare Administration

This course provides students an opportunity to evaluate human capital requirements of the healthcare system and apply appropriate solutions to address individual and organizational performance and productivity. Students will review employment legislation and apply strategic solutions for human capital staffing, total rewards, workplace safety and labor relations’ needs in healthcare organizations.

The healthcare industry is constantly evolving. Most healthcare organizations are among the largest employers in their communities and the demand for workers is projected to outpace supply on a national scale. The fundamental field of human resources is impacted by shifting demographics, new technologies, and the growing complexity of accreditation demands and state/federal regulations. The ultimate goal of healthcare human resource management is to leverage human capital resources in an effort to provide efficient and effective value to patients and stakeholders centered on cost, access, and quality of care.

Discussions (6)

Discussion are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, the student is required to provide a thread in response to the provided prompt for each discussion. Each thread must be 350-500 words and demonstrate course-related knowledge. In addition to the thread, the student is required to reply to 2 other classmates’ threads. Each reply must be 250-350 words.

Both the thread and replies must include a scriptural reference and at least 2 scholarly, peer-reviewed sources, plus the course text, all in current APA format.

Research Paper Assignments (2)

Research Paper: Outline and References Assignment

The student will complete a full sentence outline in preparation for their Research Paper: Final Document Assignment. The outline must include a thesis statement, the research question(s)/issues being addressed, the space allotted to each section of the paper, and a preliminary reference list of at least 10 sources that are less than 5 years old. The student is required to read all instructor feedback and implement it on future assignments.

Research Paper: Final Document Assignment

The student will be responsible for constructing and reviewing their final document consisting of a 6-8 page paper that is in current APA format paper. The topic of the paper will be selected individually from a list of approved topics. The student will then submit the final version of this assignment. The assignment must utilize at least 10 scholarly sources, in addition to the course textbook, and biblical integration. All sources must be cited in-text as well as included in the reference list of the paper.  

Quizzes (8)

Each quiz will cover the Learn material for the assigned Module: Week. Each quiz will be open-book/open-notes, contain 10 multiple-choice questions, allow for 1 attempt, and have a 30-minute time limit.
