Course Description
A multi week guided research course focused on the completion of the student’s dissertation. Dissertations should be designed and structured into chapters (usually 5 to 9 chapters), and demonstrate final draft quality in terms of content and style. Writing progress throughout the course will be in close consultation with the student’s dissertation mentor.

Rationale
BIBL 989 facilitates dissertation writing for the PhD in Bible Exposition student from the point of the fourth chapter through the concluding chapter. Based on an approved prospectus, the student will write the fourth through concluding chapters (including appendices) of their PhD dissertation within the BIBL 989 course. Progress will be evaluated between the student, the mentor, and a dissertation reader to confirm breadth of research and the quality of the dissertation document. As the student completes their dissertation, the focus shifts to confirmation of readiness for the dissertation defense.
Course Assignment
Quiz: Student/Mentor Progress Meeting
Students will meet virtually with their mentor to reestablish expectations and a working relationship for the completion of the dissertation (chapters four through conclusion). This meeting will be verified through a quiz. (CLO: A, C)
Chapter Four First Draft Assignment
Students will write and submit the first draft of chapter four of their dissertation. Content should follow that proposed in the dissertation prospectus. (CLO: A, B, D)
Chapter Four Final Draft Assignment
Students will submit the final draft of chapter four of their dissertation. This draft should reflect revisions based on mentor feedback from the first draft submission. (CLO: D, E)
Chapter Five First Draft Assignment
Students will write and submit the first draft of chapter five of their dissertation. Content should follow that proposed in the dissertation prospectus. (CLO: B, D)
Chapter Five Final Draft Assignment
Students will submit the final draft of chapter five of their dissertation. This draft should reflect revisions based on mentor feedback from the first draft submission. (CLO: D, E)
Chapter Six First Draft Assignment

Remaining Dissertation Chapters Assignment
Students will submit the final draft of their dissertation. This draft should reflect revisions based on mentor feedback from other draft submissions. (CLO: D, E)
Quiz: Student/Mentor/Reader Final Consultation
Students will meet virtually with their mentor to review progress and to establish readiness in reference to the dissertation defense. The reader may also be involved (at the discretion of the mentor). This meeting will be verified through a quiz. (CLO: C, E)
