Rationale
This course is necessary to prepare the candidate for the process of writing the required proposal and dissertation within the School of Aeronautics Ph.D. in Aviation program. The Ph.D. program requires the presentation of a proposal for research as a first step in the process of dissertation writing. This course gives the candidate the specific knowledge, skills, and practice needed to write a successful quantitative doctoral dissertation proposal.

Video Discussion: Class Introductions
Discussions are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, the candidate will complete the Video Discussion: Class Introductions in a visual presentation format. The visual presentation must include a 2-minute minimum recorded presentation. Be creative with the presentations. It is recommended that the candidate uses Kaltura to create the presentations. If the candidate is not comfortable with Kaltura, a technology medium must be used that allows the presentation to include the candidate’s face and audio. In addition to the initial video thread, the candidate must post 2 replies of at least 150 words.
Discussion: Reflective Practice
Discussions are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, the candidate will complete the Discussion by posting a thread in response to the stated prompt and posting replies to two other classmates’ threads. All posts must be in current APA format and include citations and references. The thread must be 750 words and demonstrate course-related knowledge. Each reply must be 300 words. The candidate must support his/her assertions with at least 2 citations in the thread and at least 1 citation in each of the replies. The thread must also integrate at least 1 biblical principle. Article Critique Assignments (6)
The candidate will complete a critical analysis of 6 provided peer-reviewed scholarly research articles or published dissertations. Using the Article Critique Template, the candidate will critique the articles or dissertations, identify research limitations of the articles or dissertations, and reflect on the gaps and limitations of the future research through the lens of a Biblical worldview in the review. Each critique will be written in current APA format. (CLO: C, F, G)
Quizzes (14)
Each quiz will cover the Learn material from the assigned module. These quizzes build on each other and may cover cumulative concepts. Each quiz will be open-book/open-notes, contain 10–25 multiple-choice and true/false questions, and have a 1-hour-and-30-minute time limit. Each quiz has unlimited attempts, and the highest attempt will count towards the grade. (CLO: A, B, C, D, E, F, G)
