Rationale
The purpose of this course is to prepare candidates to critically analyze current aviation industry practices and problems to learn how to develop realistic solutions. While analyzing current problems, candidates should strive to look to the future to develop a predictive approach rather than a relative approach. The course explores problem-solving and forward-looking through a biblical worldview, economics, leadership, technology, and ethics lenses.

Course Requirements Checklist
After reading the Course Syllabus and Student Expectations, the student will complete the related checklist found in the Course Overview.
Video Discussion: Class Introductions
The student will complete the Video Discussion: Class Introductions in a visual presentation format. The visual presentation must include a 2-minute minimum recorded presentation. Be creative with the presentations. It is recommended that students use Kaltura to create the presentations. If a student is not comfortable with Kaltura, a technology medium must be used that allows the presentation to include the student’s face and audio. In addition to the initial video thread, the student must post 2 replies of at least 150-words.
Discussion (3)
Discussions are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, the student will complete three Discussions in this course. For each Discussion, the student will post one thread of 500 words. The student must then post two replies of 300 words. Where applicable, the student must support his/her assertions with in-text citations and references in the current APA format.
Article Critique Assignments (2)
Locating scholarly sources is key when gathering and understanding information on current practices and future trends in aviation. This assignment will help the student become more comfortable when reviewing and selecting different types of sources for his/her research.
For this assignment, the student will research and select articles written five years ago or less that are related to future research methods. The student will present a summary of the article, offer a critique of the article (which may include how he/she may apply the conclusions and ideas present in predicting future trends in aviation) and share a Biblical Worldview. All articles and books for this assignment must be as current as possible and must be cited using current APA format. This assignment must be at least 2- pages in length, but not more than 3- pages (500- 750 words). The student must include title, abstract, and reference pages; however, these do not count towards the minimum 2- page length nor go against the maximum 3- pages in length. (CLO: A, B, C, E).
Case Study Assignment
As the student begins this assignment, the student will need to have a solid foundation of the current practices in aviation and work through the lessons learned from the study to focus on how to solve the selected problem. The student will need to identify a current problem/issue in aviation, determine the best research/articles to support the student’s position and discuss a Biblical worldview.
For this assignment, the student will submit a case study on an aviation problem solved using analytic and a systems- based approach. The lessons learned from the case study should focus on solving a current problem in aviation. All articles and books for this assignment must be as current as possible and must be cited using current APA format. This assignment must be at least 3- pages in length, but not more than 4 pages (750- 1,000 words). The student must include title, abstract, and references pages, however, this does not count toward the minimum 3- page length nor go against the maximum 4- page in length. (CLO: A, B, E).
Data Analysis Project Assignment
Researching and analyzing data sets is critical to effective planning for and understanding current practices and future trends in aviation. At times, it is tempting for the student to review the data at face value and/or not challenge the data set he/she is reviewing. However, this is an essential element that should not be missed. There are limitations in every data set. Thus, when the student is analyzing his/her data set, be sure to acknowledge those limitation and review how those limitations could/may have impacted the data set. The purpose of this assignment is to help the student utilize data analysis to correlate historical trends to predict future trends in aviation, as well as research methods.
For this assignment, the student will analyze an aviation company data set and discuss the analysis in terms of predicting future trends. The student must be sure the analysis includes a Biblical worldview. All articles and books for this assignment must be as current as possible and must be cited using current APA format. This assignment must be at least 4- pages in length, but not more than 5 pages (1,000- 1,500 words). The student must include title, abstract, and reference pages; however, does not count toward the minimum 4- page length nor go against the maximum 5- page length. (CLO: C, D, E).
Final Paper Assignment
The student has been working throughout the course toward the final goal of developing a strong foundation of the current practices and future trends in aviation. Noting that this industry is evolving by the minute and thus, these current practices could soon become a former practice as new technologies emerge, and policies are updated. Throughout this course, the student has explored, researched, and familiarized him/herself with current practices in aviation, which allows the student to critically problem solve current practices and seek solutions.
The purpose of this assignment is to keenly familiarize him/herself with the current practices in aviation to soundly be able to forecast and predict future trends. Remember, all previous feedback provided throughout the course must be incorporated at this stage in the writing process.
For this assignment, the student will utilize a future research method to forecast and predict a future aviation trend. The student will need to discuss the implications of the predicted trend using several lenses, including, a Biblical worldview.
The main objective of the coursework, culminating in this final draft assignment, has been to analyze current problems and strive to look to the future to develop a predictive approach rather than a relative approach.
This assignment must be exactly 20 pages long, excluding the title, abstract and reference pages. (CLO: A, B, C, D, E).
