AVIA 537 Aviation Organizational Leadership
Course Description
Students will explore and investigate issues and problems that are unique to leading in aviation organizations. The course will cover methods of strategic planning and effective leadership in an environment of rapidly changing technology, world-wide impact, vast media attention, strict regulatory regimes, and other factors.

Discussion: Class Introductions
Discussions are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, the student will submit a 5-minute maximum video presentation introducing his/herself to his/her fellow classmates. Specific elements described in the assignment are to be included. This will be a graded assignment and the student must reply to at least two other classmate introductions as well.

Essay Assignments (4)
The student will research an aviation organization and write an essay on each week’s topic. The essay will be 2-3 pages in APA format. (CLO: A, B, C, D, E)
Video Response Assignments (3)
The student will research an aviation organization and create a video presentation on each week’s topic. The video will be 5 minutes or less in length. (CLO: A, B, C, D, E)
Strategic Analysis Paper Assignment
Using current research, course materials, and knowledge from the Bible, the student will conduct a strategic analysis of an aviation organization of their choice. The analysis must include a comprehensive SWOT analysis and recommendations for sustaining a competitive advantage. Consider Biblical application with emphasis on recommended leadership philosophy. The case study must be 8-10 pages, and it must include at least five citations in current APA formatting. The Title and Reference pages do not count toward the total page count. (CLO: A, B)
Course Reflection Paper Assignment
The student will write a minimum 500-word essay reflecting on their experience in this course. (CLO: A, B, C)
