The purpose of this course is to prepare the student to work in the field of aviation, applying his or her expertise with a biblical perspective.  Specifically, this course will investigate how to research and write, appropriately explaining biblical principles in aviation, leadership, ethics, and risks.

Discussion: Class Introductions

Discussions are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, the student will complete the Discussion: Class Introductions in a visual presentation format. The visual presentation must include a 2-5 minute recorded video presentation of the student introducing himself/herself to the other classmates. The student will then reply to 2 classmates’ videos with a reply of at least 150 words.

Discussions are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, the student is required to create a thread of at least 500 words in response to the provided prompt for each discussion. For each thread, the student must support his/her assertions with at least 2 recent, scholarly, peer-reviewed citations in APA format.

In addition to the thread, the student will reply to the threads of at least 2 classmates. Each reply must be at least 250 words. Each reply must incorporate at least 1 recent, scholarly, peer reviewed citation(s) in APA format. (CLO: A, B, E)

Liberty University School of Aeronautics APA Writing Guide for Graduate Students

The student will complete an interactive APA writing center assignment. This assignment will prepare the student to complete other course work with proper APA formatting.

Article Review Assignments (3)

The student will research and select one article written five years ago or less. The article chosen should serve as a resource that can be used for the upcoming Research Paper: Final Submission Assignment. The student will write a 2-3-page (not including title, abstract, and reference page) analysis of the article and offer a critique of the article, including a biblical worldview. Research Paper Assignment

During the length of this course the student will write a Research Paper. The student must be sure to read the instructions and rubric for expectations. There are multiple elements to the Research Paper:

Quiz: Research Paper Topic Submission

This quiz is an opportunity for the student to select a topic for the research paper. The student should select a topic that that he or she finds interesting. The topic should have a narrow focus within aviation. The quiz contains 1 file-upload question, has no time limit, and is open-book/open-notes.

Peer-Review Discussion Threads (2)

In this course, the student will have the opportunity to review fellow classmates’ work and offer insightful and constructive feedback through 2 peer review discussions. The first discussion will cover the Initial Rough Draft of the Research Paper. The second discussion will cover the Second Rough Draft of the Research Paper. Within each discussion, the student will exchange papers, read a classmate’s paper, and provide feedback to that classmate. Feedback will consist of comments on the classmate’s paper, comments on the related rubric, and a 150-word summary of the paper.

Research Paper: Final Submission Assignment

Utilizing feedback from the peer-review discussions, the student will submit his or her final paper. The paper must be 15 pages (not including title, abstract, and reference page) in APA format and utilize proper spelling, grammar, and a minimum of 8 scholarly references.

Reflection Paper Assignment

The student will write a 2-3 page paper (not including title, abstract, and reference page) reflecting on what they have learned through this course.  The paper should include what was learned from the journal readings, textbook readings, or things that were learned in preparation for the assignments.
