Discussions are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, the student must submit a 2–3 minute video introduction in this course. This will be a graded assignment. The student may use a multi-media platform of choice to record his/her video. However, Kaltura is recommended. Specific elements stated within the discussion prompt must be included. It is recommended that the student submits his/her video by embedding via the Kaltura, but the student may instead opt to provide a URL link to your video hosted on an approved platform within the thread. Each reply must contain at least 150 words, including a question or a relevant follow-up response to guide the discussion.

Discussions (3)

Discussions are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, the student is required to create a narrated PowerPoint video thread in response to the provided prompt for each discussion. Each thread must be between 3 and 6 minutes, cover all critical concepts mentioned within the discussion prompt through the student’s personal application and foundational knowledge, and be supported by references from the Pilot Handbook of Aeronautical Knowledge or other FAA publications. At least 2 scholarly sources are required cited in current APA format with a reference page.

In addition to the thread, the student is required to reply to the threads of at least 2 classmates. Each reply must be at least 150 words. The student must support any assertions with references from the Pilot Handbook of Aeronautical Knowledge or other FAA publications and include a reference list. (CLO: A, B, C, D)

As the student progresses through his/her Training Course Outline (TCO) at his/her Flight Training Affiliate, it is very important that the student stays on pace to complete the “Percent of TCO” requirement before the end of the course. To help the student stay fully aware of his/her own progress and to keep the professor informed, the student will upload the completed Percent of TCO Form verifying “percent of TCO” progress halfway through the course and within the final module of the course. This form will provide crucial information exchanged between all stakeholders (professor, student, and flight instructor/ FTA). This assignment is graded based on the “Percent of TCO” completed. Be sure to view the grading rubric for this assignment.

Part 141 Graduate Certification and Pilot Rating/Certificate Submission Assignment

In order to pass this class, the student must complete his/her Private Pilot training at an approved Part 141 Flight Training Affiliate (FTA). Once complete, the student must submit a Part 141 Graduation Certificate and either a copy of the FAA Private Pilot Certificate (front and back), or Temporary FAA Private Pilot Certificate if applicable. In order to earn any points for this assignment, the student must provide the professor with BOTH documents. This is an all-or-nothing assignment. (CLO: A, B, C, D)

Reflection of TCO Paper Assignment

The student will write a 2-3 page paper (not including title and references) reflecting on his/her flight training experience. This experience includes both the academic work completed as well as the % of TCO completed during flight training at the FTA. The student will reflect on academic and flight progress, lessons and takeaways, and faith and gratitude. This paper should be well-organized, reflective, and personal, incorporating specific examples from your training experience. Proper APA formatting and adherence to academic writing standards are expected.

This report serves as both a personal record of the student’s flight training journey and a tool for the student’s professor to monitor his/her development. Staying on pace with course requirements is essential for successful completion by the end of the semester. To ensure regular progress updates, the student must submit a Quiz: Flight Progress Report at the end of all nearly all assigned module, regardless of how many training units were completed in previous modules.
