ARTS 790 Thesis/Portfolio Project

This course provides an opportunity for the graduate student to pursue specialized supervised independent creative or scholarly research toward the thesis and exhibition.

This course facilitates collaboration with the student’s thesis committee to assist in the production of the thesis. This course is the culminating activity for the MFA as it has a written component as well as thesis deliverables.


Course Requirements Checklist

After reading the Course Syllabus and Student Expectations, the student will complete the related checklist found in the Course Overview.

Chapter Proofs Assignments (4)

The candidate will submit well-developed initial and final of each chapter required for their thesis.

Defense Preparation Assignment

The candidate will prepare for their defense and submit a final version of their document to Canvas and Microsoft Teams.

Deliverable Breakdown Assignment (5)

At the end of ARTS 780 the candidate developed a Design Brief Assignment detailing the creative works they would develop as the theoretical solution to the established thesis problem. Using that approved Design Brief Assignment the candidate will need to outline a detailed plan of action as to how they will develop and execute those deliverables

Final Revisions Assignment

The candidate will submit all final revisions for approval.  These documents will be evaluated and presented with the candidates defense for the approval of their MFA.

Oral Defense Assignment

The candidate will conduct private defenses.

Progress Reports Assignments (8)

The candidate will submit report to their chair to verify current course progress.

Website Assignment

The candidate will make a website dedicated to their thesis project.
