This is a directed study of the creation of images utilizing digital and other tools for the purpose creating digital images. Students will choose one of five areas of concentration within the course: digital painting for fine art, digital illustration for commercial design, interactive media prototype development, digital photographic processes, imaging and compositing, special topics suggested by the student. This study will comprise of a series of four (4) special project modules that are related in a thematic or serial manner. There will be a written research module to investigate thoroughly the concentrated area. The projects will culminate in a formal presentation at the end of the semester with work properly presented accompanied by a verbal presentation. May be taken twice.

The goal is to develop your foundational skills in digital painting by creating a solid and detailed base drawing using the instructions provided on that page.

In this exercise, you will be working on Exercise 02: Value (page 42) and Exercise 03: Color (page 50) from the textbook "Beginner's Guide to Digital Painting in Photoshop" by 3D Total Publishing. These exercises aim to develop your skills in creating value-based and color-based digital paintings using the instructions provided.
Exercise: Fairytale Scene Beginning Assignment
In this exercise, you will be working on Chapter 9: Fairytale Scene from the textbook "The Photoshop Workbook" by Glyn Dewis. The goal of this assignment is to create a fairytale scene by incorporating a miniature room and adding toys.
Exercise: Fairytale Scene Final Assignment
In this exercise, you will continue working on the Fairytale Scene assignment from Chapter 9 of the textbook "The Photoshop Workbook" by Glyn Dewis. In Part Two of the assignment, you will focus on adding shadows, children, transitioning day to night, creating wardrobe light, and adding finishing touches.

The outcome for the Digital Painting Project is the creation of realistic food paintings that symbolize the Fruits of the Spirit mentioned in the Bible (Galatians 5:22-23). The Fruits of the Spirit are love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Your goal is to visually capture the essence and symbolism of 2 fruits through realistic digital food paintings.
