Individuals wishing to pursue a career in art, design, user experience, or innovation need a variety of ideation tools to help guide and to augment the creative process.

Discussions (3)

Discussions are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, the student is required to create a thread in response to the provided prompt. Each thread must be at least 500 words, demonstrate course-related knowledge, and include at least one scholarly source. In addition to the thread, the student is required to reply to two other classmates’ threads with critique and feedback. Each reply must be at least 200 words and include at least one scholarly source.

Ideation Reflection Assignment

The student will reflect in at least 500 words on their existing methods of ideation and how these current tools serve them in the creative process. 

Mind Mapping Assignment

The student will experiment with Mind Mapping to generate a multitude of ideas about a given topic.  Students will compare findings from 2 Mind Maps to illuminate the breadth of ideas that are generated through these exercises. 

Ideation Generation Exploration Assignment

The student will complete a series of idea generating activities and will reflect on the efficacy of these activities in their creative process. 

Creating Form Assignment

The student will investigate the idea of creating form via improving upon an existing product or tool.  Students will practices solving problems in multiple ways before settling on a final best idea. 

Limitations Spark Creativity Assignment

The student will participate in a series of timed activities with strict limitations in order to practice reaching outside of the box for solutions. 

Setting the Stage for Ideation Paper Assignment

The student will develop a 1500-word paper exploring factors that impact the ability to be creative.  Students will determine ways in which this information can improve their creative practice. 

Quizzes (2)

Each quiz will cover the Learn material for the module: week(s) in which it is assigned. Each quiz will be open-book/open-notes, contain 10 multiple-choice and/or true/false questions, and have a 25-minute time limit.
