Rationale
Arabic is one of the six United Nations languages, and is a language necessary to reach millions of people to fulfill the Great Commission. It is the goal of the Arabic program at Liberty University for students to engage the world effectively in Arabic, so this course recognizes the value of language study and assumes that the student is genuinely interested in learning to communicate proficiently in Arabic

Discussions (2)
Discussions are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, the student is required to provide a thread in response to the provided prompt for each discussion. The student will record a short video in Arabic (2-3 minutes) on a specified topic. The student will respond to at least 1 classmate, providing feedback on his/her thread or video in at least 100 words. (CLO: A, B, C)
Homework Assignments (8)
Each Homework Assignment includes listening, writing, and reading exercises. Dictation and writing drills must be submitted on a separate sheet of paper to Canvas for grading. (CLO: A, D, E. F)
Quiz: Oral Assessments (2)
Oral Assessment
The student will record a video or audio in which he or she completes all speech tasks assigned by the instructor, each of varying length. Oral Assessments will assess the student’s understanding of the lessons. The student must answer all questions in Arabic using proper pronunciation and grammar. (CLO: A, B)

The student will complete 7 Vocab Practice quizzes. Each open-book/open-notes quiz contains 1 matching question, is untimed, allows unlimited attempts, and counts the highest score toward the grade.
Quiz: Mid-term Exam
The Quiz: Mid-term Exam covers the Learn materials from the first half of the course. The quiz contains 17 multiple-choice, true/false, short-answer, and record-your-answer questions. The open-book/open-notes exam allows 1 attempt and must be completed in 2 hours. (CLO: A, C, D, E, F, G)
Quiz: Final Exam Practice
The Quiz: Final Exam Practice covers material from all Modules of the course. The quiz contains 3 questions: 1 listening comprehension question with a multiple-choice answer, and 2 requiring video response with a short-answer and description. The quiz is untimed and allows unlimited attempts, with the highest score counting toward the grade. (CLO: A, E, F)
Quiz: Final Reading Assessment
The Quiz: Final Reading Assessment covers Unit 10, Drill 1. The student is required to record himself/herself reading the text. (CLO: D, E)
Quiz: Final Exam
The Quiz: Final Exam covers the Learn material from all Modules. The Final Exam contains 27 multiple-choice, true/false, short-answer, upload your writing, and record your answers questions. The open-book/open-notes quiz must be completed in 2 hours and allows 1 attempt. (CLO: A, C, D, E, F, G)
