APOL 990 is the culmination of the PhD in Applied Apologetics program, allowing the PhD student to defend his/her dissertation’s thesis and argument through an oral defense made to his/her dissertation committee. A successful dissertation defense is required to complete the PhD in Applied Apologetics program and to qualify for graduation.

The candidate will submit his/her defense-ready dissertations to his/her Mentor and Reader. (CLO: C, D, E)

The candidate will defend his/her dissertation in an oral defense format (video conference, using PowerPoint presentation, and ensuing dialogue with Mentor and Reader). (CLO: A, B, C, D)

The candidate will take a quiz affirming that he/she has applied for graduation. This quiz contains 1 true/false question, has no time limit, and allows unlimited attempts. (CLO: E)

By completing this quiz, the candidate is requesting that his/her Dissertation Mentor and Reader officially review his/her Dissertation Defense-Ready Draft. The 5 short-answer quiz has no time limit and allows 1 attempt. (CLO: C, D, E)

The candidate will affirm that he/she has successfully defended his/her dissertation. The quiz contains 3 multiple-choice and 1 file upload questions, allows unlimited attempts, and has no time limit. (CLO: D, E)

The candidate will affirm that he/she has followed the Jerry Falwell Library requirements for electronic dissertation publication. The quiz contains 1 multiple-choice question, allows unlimited attempts, and has no time limit. (CLO: E)
