APOL 120 Apologetics

A survey of the evidences for the central truths of Christianity: the existence of God, the deity and resurrection of Christ, and the authority and truth of the Bible.

This course exists to provide students with the skills necessary to put their biblical knowledge into action. One of the primary goals of this program is to equip students to effectively share their faith with this world. In this course, students will be challenged to synthesize their biblical and theological education in a way that spurs them on toward praxis. The aim of this course is to create effectively-trained ministers of the New Covenant who can go into the world and give the reasons for our hope (2 Peter 3:15).

Discussions (3)

The student is required to create a thread in response to the provided topic for each discussion. Each thread is to be 300-450 words and support assertions with at least 2 citations in current Turabian format. In addition to the thread, the student is required to reply to 2 other classmates’ threads. Each reply must be at least 100-250 words and support assertions with at least 1 citation for each reply in current Turabian format. (CLO: A, B, D, E, F)

Essay: 5 Worldview Questions Assignments

The student will be provided with 5 worldview questions that examine the concepts of origin, identity, meaning and purpose, morality, and destiny. The student will provide a biblical response to said questions. The student must follow the instructions and use the template provided in the Assignment Instruction folder. (CLO: B)

Resurrection Apologetic Assignment

The student will present a summary and defense of Christ’s resurrection using the minimal facts argument. This paper should follow the instructions and template provided in the course along with Turabian guidelines. The paper must be 1000-1300 words in length and includes 4-6 scholarly references (two of which should be utilized in the Minimal Fact Argument section). (CLO: C)

Quizzes (3)

The student will complete three (3) quizzes in the course. Each will contain 20 questions consisting of true and false, multiple-choice, and are open-book/open-notes. The student will have 90 minutes to complete them. (CLO: A, B, C, D, E)
