Course Requirements Checklist

After reading the Course Syllabus and Student Expectations, the student will complete the related checklist found in the Course Overview.

Meet Hour Requirements

Complete 300 total hours of a supervised clinical training experience, with a minimum of 150 hours required for direct client contact; 25 hours required for individual supervision (IS); 25 hours required for group supervision (GS) and all other hours counted as Related Activities (RA).

  1. Individual supervision is a time for the student to meet and go over clients directly with his/her supervisor and only his/her approved supervisor.
  2. Group supervision will be when a student meets with his/her approved supervisor and other colleagues at his/her site discussing clients.
  3. Related activities can be office work, telephone calls to clients, writing progress notes, and billing insurance companies. (CLO: A, B, C, D, E, F, G).
  4. The student can keep track of his/her hours each week using the Liberty University Internship Log provided in Canvas and on the Practicum/Internship website. The student will provide the logs to the onsite supervisor in order for the supervisor to fill out the number of hours completed on the evaluations due at the 4 quarter marks of the semester. It is highly recommended that the student keeps a personal copy of their logs in his/her home records so they are available if requested in the future by the internship office or a state licensure board.

Practical Chapter Review Assignments (3)

For the Practical Chapter Review Assignment of the assigned chapter, the student will follow the directions laid out in the "Instructions for Practical Chapter Reviews" document posted in the module and also found in Course Documents. Those guidelines serve as the primary instructions for this assignment; each module will also provide clarification for its specific chapter. The student must remember to address all four sections: Summarize, Respond, Reflect & Act. Each section should be kept to 300 words. This assignment must be submitted as a word document attachment in the link provided.

The student will provide 2 taped 8-10-minute segments of recorded counseling sessions and type a verbatim transcript of each segment, (note: verbatim means word for word, so it includes “umm,” “err” and other filler words). Faculty will provide feedback on this portion of the session.
