CG • Section 8WK • 07/01/2018 to 12/31/2199 • Modified 02/01/2024

Course Description

The concepts, historical development, and mathematical methods of quantum mechanics.

For information regarding prerequisites for this course, please refer to the Academic Course Catalog.

Rationale

This is a calculus-based upper level physics course that covers the principles and applications of wave functions and the Schrödinger equation, and covers the behavior of matter and light on atomic and subatomic scales.

Course Assignment

Textbook readings and lecture presentations

Homework Assignments (6)

Each homework assignment must be handwritten, will be open-book/open-notes, and will cover the Learn material covered throughout the module. Students are expected not only to provide the correct final answer, but to show each step involved in deriving the solution to avoid point deductions (CLOs: A, B, C, & D).

Quizzes: Exams (2)

The Quizzes: Exams will be timed, handwritten, open-book/open-notes, and cover the course Learn material for all of the previously assigned modules. You will have 3 hours to complete each quiz. Students are expected to show all of their work, fully and completely, in the same exact way that was expected for Homework Assignments throughout the course (CLOs: A, B, C, & D).
