Course Description

This is the first course for doctoral candidates in the process of developing and completing the research study and doctoral thesis. Doctoral candidates will finalize the thesis proposal and develop chapters 1 & 2 of the thesis to include a detailed literature review relevant to the research study.

Rationale

It is important that the doctoral student engage in research and present a capstone paper summarizing their research. The capstone thesis allows the student the opportunity to research and present a capstone paper.

Quiz: Thesis Handbook Acknowledgment

The Thesis Handbook provides essential information to the successful completion of the program requirements. This quiz will lead to the link for the student's Thesis Handbook, and he/she will be asked to agree to the Thesis Handbook Acknowledgment.

Thesis Submission: Proposal/Current Status Assignment

As the student moves through the process of preparing his/her thesis, the student will submit drafts to the committee for review. The feedback the student receives on these drafts will be a guide as he/she moves forward. The student will submit his/her proposal or, if his/her proposal has already been approved by the committee, the most recent version of his/her thesis.

Thesis Submission: Progress Check Assignments (8)

The student will submit the most recent version of his/her thesis. The thesis will be reviewed by his/her thesis mentor for improvement over previous drafts. The document must show substantive improvement over each previous draft in relation to quality and quantity.
