Course Description
A study of selected international legal issues affecting or regulating multinational enterprise foreign investment, the banking system, trade in goods and services, labor matters, intellectual property, sales transactions, transportation, and trade financing.

Rationale
In an era of globalization, one of the most important areas of study in international and domestic law is the one regarding the legal principles and norms applicable to international business relations. The objective of this course is to study the international public law, international private law, and comparative law aspects of international business relations. This course addresses key issues regarding the application of legal norms in foreign investment, the banking system, trade in goods and services, intellectual property, sales transactions and transportation.

Discussions (3)
Discussions are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, the student will create a thread in response to the provided prompt for each discussion. Each thread must be 400–500 words and demonstrate course-related knowledge. In the thread major points must be supported by all the required reading and presentations from the assigned Module: Week. In addition to the thread, the student will reply to at least 2 other classmates’ threads. Each reply must be at least 250 words and incorporate at least 1 scholarly citation in Bluebook format.
Research Essay Assignments (2)
Research Essay: Letters of Credit
The student will write a research essay of 600- 1000 words responding to three bullet-point prompts. The research essay will include a case summary and citation from the Module’s reading and requires biblical application. This assignment must adhere to current Bluebook format. Note: Each LL.M student must add an additional 300- 500 words of writing in his/her research essay. This is a Pass/Fail component of this assignment. This is not required of any JM student.
Research Essay: General System of Preferences
The student will write a research essay of 600- 1000 words responding to three bullet-point prompts. The research essay requires biblical application. This assignment must adhere to current Bluebook format. Note: Each LL.M student must add an additional 300- 500 words of writing in his/her research essay. This is a Pass/Fail component of this assignment. This is not required of any JM student.
Memorandum Assignments (2)
Memorandum Assignment: Commercial Terms
The student will write a 900- 1200 word memorandum assessing a fact pattern, will address each of the 4 questions posed at the conclusion of the fact pattern and will be required to incorporate the Christian worldview. This assignment must adhere to current Bluebook format. Note: Each LL.M student must add an additional 500- 800 words of writing in his/her research essay. This is a Pass/Fail component of this assignment. This is not required of any JM student.
Memorandum Assignment: World Trade Organization
The student will write a 900- 1200 memorandum assessing a fact pattern and will be required to incorporate the Christian worldview. This assignment must adhere to current Bluebook format. Note: Each LL.M student must add an additional 500- 800 words of writing in his/her research essay. This is a Pass/Fail component of this assignment. This is not required of any JM student.
Quizzes (6)
Each quiz will cover the Learn material for the assigned Module: Week. Each quiz will be open-book/open-notes, contain a combination of 10 multiple-choice and short answer questions, and have a 1-hour time limit.
