This course is designed to prepare the graduate history student in the broader contours of naval history, solidify Christian worldview thinking, evaluate historical case studies in light of seapower theory, and enhance career opportunities related to military and historical studies.

Discussions (4)

Discussions are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, the student must share a chosen book review for each thread and provide an open-ended discussion question related to their chosen book and the Learn items from the assigned module: week. The student will then reply to at least two classmates; replies must be at least 100 words each. 

Book Review Assignments (4)

The student will review a book from the Book Review List in 500 to 600 words. The student will summarize the author’s thesis, explain what evidence the author relies upon to support the thesis, analyze the author’s argument, and conclude with an encouraging statement.

Battle Analysis Assignments (4)

The student will submit a Battle Analysis on the assigned battle in a PowerPoint or as a Word document, addressing the topic areas outlined in the Battle Analysis Assignment Instructions. The Battle Analysis should be 15-20 PowerPoint slides (or 8 pages if writing). When providing sources for facts and figures, the student will use a footnote style in accordance with the current edition of the Turabian style guide.
