EXSC 670 Physiological Interactions of Performance Enhancing Substances
Course Description
This course provides the foundational understanding of the physiological interactions of performance enhancing substances. An in depth understanding of how specific performance enhancing substances affect performance, the physiological pathway that elicits change, practical application and any side effects will be provided.

The purpose of this course is to provide the student with an understanding of how specific performance-enhancing substances work within the body, how they improve performance, any possible side effects, and how to practically apply this knowledge in a sports performance setting.

Discussions (2)
Discussions are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, the student is required to create a thread in response to the provided prompt for each discussion. Each thread must be at least 500 words, demonstrate course-related knowledge, and include at least 2 scholarly references and at least 1 biblical principle, in addition to the course textbook. In addition to the thread, the student is required to reply to at least 2 other classmates’ threads. Each reply must be at least 300 words and reference the course textbook and/or 1 other scholarly or biblical source. All citations must be in current APA format.
Essay Questions Assignments (3)
The student must evaluate chapter questions and write a 200–250-word essay response per question. Each assigned Module: Week contains 4 separate questions for the student to answer in essay form. The student must reference the course textbook when writing responses to each question. The student may also use notes taken from course presentations. All definitive statements must be cited.
Ergogenic Aid Paper Assignment
The assigned paper will consist of a manuscript written on a self-selected topic on ergogenic aids. The chosen topic must cover an ergogenic aid that impacts sport performance. The student will be expected to demonstrate an understanding of the effects and physiological mechanisms of the chosen ergogenic aid. The paper will also cover any known side effects for the given ergogenic aid. The paper must consist of 8-10 double-spaced pages and include at least 10 references cited in APA format.
Quizzes (2)
The student must take the Quiz: Midterm and Quiz: Final in the course. Each exam will be open-book/open-notes and will cover the Learn material from previous Modules: Weeks and the assigned Module: Week. The Quiz: Midterm will contain 60 multiple-choice and true/false questions and have a time limit of 1 hour and 30 minutes. The Quiz: Final will contain 75 multiple-choice and true/false questions and have a time limit of 2 hours.
