An important part of a master’s degree is the completion of a capstone project. Under the direction of a mentor, the master’s candidate completes a thesis/project manuscript, thesis/project defense, and final document submission.

Thesis/Project Submission: Proposal/Current Status Assignment

As the student moves through the process of preparing his or her capstone project or thesis, the student will submit drafts to his or her committee for review. The student will submit his or her proposal or, if his or her proposal has already been approved by his or her committee, the most recent version of his or her thesis or project. The student’s document will be reviewed by his or her thesis/project mentor.

Thesis/Project Submission: Progress Check Assignments (8)

The student will submit the most recent version of his or her thesis or project. The thesis/project will be reviewed by the student’s thesis/project mentor for improvement over previous drafts. The document must show substantive improvement over each previous draft in relation to quality and quantity. Substantive improvement is defined as either quantitative improvement (word count, sources, etc.) or qualitative improvement (editing, revising, synthesizing, etc.).

Quiz: Master’s Thesis Handbook Acknowledgment

The student will take a quiz to ensure his or her understanding of the Master’s Thesis Handbook. The quiz will be open-book/open-notes, contain 1 yes/no question, and have no time limit.
