Course Description

Information technology capstone course converses by focusing on a sequence of projects that designs and builds systems and integrates them into a global business; emphasizes IT project management, enterprise architecture, business requirement analysis, system modeling, acquisition, testing, deployment, and quality assurance. (Formerly CSIS 465)

Rationale

The purpose of this course is to allow the student to build on knowledge gained in prior core courses of the Bachelor of Science in Information Technology program. The student will learn: project management; modeling; and how to design, build, test for quality assurance, and deploy an integrated system for a Christian-based global enterprise. The course will prepare the student to be an IT professional who is equipped to help any organization integrate disparate computer platforms and networks in order for the organization to achieve its global strategy.

Discussions (4)

Discussions are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, the student is required to create a thread in response to the provided prompt for each discussion. Each thread must be at least 300 words, demonstrate course-related knowledge, and reference at least1 source. In addition to the thread, the student is required to reply to 2 other classmates’ threads. Each reply must be at least 250 words.

Capstone Project Assignments (4)

Capstone Project: Project Management Assignment

The student will determine the needs of a chosen system in order to develop a basis for his/her Capstone Project and develop his/her project management skills. The student will perform various functions and diagrams to complete this phase.

Capstone Project: Systems Analysis Assignment and Capstone Project: Systems Analysis Continued Assignment

The student will examine and develop various charts and diagrams in order to formulate how the chosen systems will be integrated. The student will perform various activities that describe the different processes within the organization.

Capstone Project: Systems Design Assignment

The student will design and asses his/her system for the chosen organization. The student will perform various activities in order to provide a complete design architecture for his/her chosen organization.

Research Proposal Assignment

As this is a research proposal as opposed to a typical research paper, the student will need to propose at least two research designs needed to test the efficacy of the information system they are designing in this class. The student will focus their proposed research designs around a hypothetical organization where their proposed information systems will be implemented. The paper must include at least 5 scholarly references in addition to the course textbook, include biblical integration, conform to current APA standards, and be at least 1,200 words (not including the title or reference pages).
