Course Description
This course introduces the fundamentals of database programming. Database administration will be introduced as well as the concepts of data manipulation.

Rationale
A foundation in database programming is essential for a thorough understanding of database management. This course fully covers SQL programming and practical application of the language. Completion of this course will make the student more marketable to potential employers.

Discussions (6)
Discussions are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, the student is required to write a thread in response to the provided prompt. Each thread must be 200 words and must demonstrate course-related knowledge and integrate the Bible. Each thread must contain at least 2 citations in current APA format (peer and Bible). In addition to the thread, the student is required to reply to 2 other classmates’ threads and each reply must be 100 words. Each reply must also contain at least 2 citations in current APA format. Acceptable references or sources include the textbooks, peer-reviewed journal articles, and the Bible.
Screen Capture Assignment
The student will take a screen capture of the required database management software to be installed.
Download Student Data Files Assignment
The student will download the required datafiles needed to complete the chapter exercises and database project.
Management Studio Exercises Assignments (11)
Students will complete the exercises at the end of each chapter of the course text. The number of exercises caries from chapter to chapter. These exercises are considered to be the Labs where the student through practical application uses the knowledge learned throughout the various chapters.
Database Project Assignment
The student will complete a database project covering chapters 2-12 and the database programming concepts learned in this course.
SQL Paper Assignment
The student will write a paper on the use of the SQL within industry, looking at the past, present, and future projected uses of databases and the SQL that enables the extraction of data through queries.
Quizzes (16)
The student will take 16 quizzes throughout the course. Quizzes will cover the concepts learned for the assigned modules.
