Course Description

Preparation for research and writing of the Dissertation.

Rationale

The candidate in a Ph.D. program must show evidence of the ability to conduct an independent, scholarly research investigation that demonstrates expertise and excellence in the profession and significantly contributes to the general body of knowledge in the profession.

Method of Instruction: This course does not require the student to attend a regularly scheduled, in-person or digital synchronous class meeting. However, the expectation is that the student consults with his/her dissertation chair over the entire duration of this semester-long digitally delivered course and submit work on a consistent basis.

Quizzes: Dissertation Practice and Draft Uploads (4)

The candidate will complete a quiz that requires the candidate to confirm continual work on the manuscript. Also, the candidate will upload the most recent copy of his/her manuscript. This upload will not initiate a formal review of the manuscript; however, this manuscript upload will provide a back-up copy of the manuscript, provide evidence of progress within the course, and track progress within the program. Quiz: Dissertation Submission Benchmark Dissertation Proposal: Chapters 1 – 3 and Drafts of Chapters Four and Five

The candidate will submit finalized defense proposal (chapters 1-3) and drafts of chapters four and five. (CLO: A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I)
