Course Description

A supportive experience for students enrolled in Clinical Pastoral Education in some clinical settings other than Liberty University under the supervision of a Liberty trained mentor for development of the student to provide pastoral care from their faith-based tradition. The field, mentor, and nature of service must be approved beforehand by the professor.

For information regarding prerequisites for this course, please refer to the Academic Course Catalog.

Rationale

Clinical Pastoral Education students are often subjected to marginalization in clinical settings other than Liberty Clinical Pastoral education because of their conservative Biblical values and convictions.  This course will facilitate and provide training for students to claim their faith-based beliefs and convictions in any military or secular Clinical Pastoral Training setting.  The standards of Association for Clinical Pastoral Education provide a safe place to express their own faith traditions without experiencing marginalization claiming the diversity provided in the ACPE Standards.  This course will enable the student to claim their voice and not feel the criticism of Clinical Pastoral Education programs who might not comply with the ACPE standards.
