Course Description
This course provides an overview of entrepreneurship as it relates to small business management. Topics include the nature of entrepreneurs and small businesses, leveraging ideas and small business entry, marketing for small businesses, accounting and finance for cash management, and the functions of operations management, risk management, and human resource management.

Rationale
This course provides a comprehensive overview of entrepreneurial management with a focus on effective management practices for small businesses. As a compliment to necessary management skills, basic competencies in competition, economics, marketing, finance, operations, legal issues, and human resources will be explored.

Discussions are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, the student is required to provide a thread in response to the provided prompt for each Discussion. Each thread must be 500 words and demonstrate course-related knowledge. In addition to the thread, the student is required to reply to 2 other classmates’ threads. Each reply must be 250 words. The student will write a 3-5 page research-based paper case analysis in current APA format that focuses on small business management. The case paper must include at least 5 peer-reviewed references in addition to the course textbooks and the Bible. (CLO: A-D).
The student will write a 10-15 page Literature Review relevant to the concepts studied throughout the course. The paper must be written in current APA format and be supported by at least 10 scholarly sources.
The student will write a 3-5 page evaluation of their small business management strategy supported by concepts found in the textbook and current scholarly literature. The paper must address strategies in ownership structures; entry into the competitive, economic, and social environment; marketing and selling the product or service; accounting, finance, and financing; tax strategies; operations; risk and insurance; legal issues; ethics; and human resources. The paper must be written in current APA format and be supported by 8 peer-reviewed journal references published within the last 10 years.
