This course broadly surveys the body of leadership literature with heavy emphasis on the major practical theories. All leadership theories are evaluated in the light of biblical reasoning.

Understanding leadership theory means that one must understand how to build and maintain trust, how to communicate a vision, and how to achieve shared goals. Applying the various concepts of leadership theory will equip any leader with essential tools that enable success in a professional setting.
Measurable Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Describe the primary leadership theories and how these concepts can be applied in organizations.
- Recognize the similarities and differences between various leadership theories.
- Integrate biblical principles within the context of effective leadership.
- Write concise, well-documented, logical argumentation in current APA format.
- Successfully lead a team project—successfully manage, plan, and organize group activities in a virtual environment.

Discussion Board Forums (2)
Discussion boards are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, the student is required to provide a thread in response to the provided prompt for each forum. Each thread must: be at least 300 words, demonstrate course-related knowledge, and incorporate at least 2 citations in current APA format. In addition to the thread, the student is required to reply to 1 other classmates’ threads. The reply must be at least 200 words and must incorporate at least 1 citation in current APA format.
Case Study Collaboration Forum
For this collaborative discussion board, the student is required to collaborate with his/her assigned group to complete the Group Case Study Paper. The group will use this forum to assign parts of the work, ask questions, suggest ideas, and post drafts for group feedback. Each student will receive a participation grade based upon numerous and substantive commentaries, a minimum of 5 posts per student with the cumulative total of no less than 200 words, that contribute to the group’s work on the case study.
Case Study Response Forums (4)
For this collaborative discussion board, the student is required to post a response to the posted Group Case Study Paper for each of the other groups’ forums (this will be in the general discussion board area). Each response must be at least 300 words and incorporate at least 2 citations in current APA format. For the forum in which his/her group’s paper is discussed, the student is required to reply to 2 other classmates’ posts. Each reply must be at least 200 words and must incorporate at least 1 citation in current APA format.
Group Case Study Paper
The student will collaborate with his/her assigned group to write a 2,500-word research-based case study paper in current APA format that focuses on the group’s assigned leadership topic. The paper must include at least 10 sources in addition to the course textbooks and the Bible. The paper must be submitted through SafeAssign in addition to being posted to the corresponding Case Study Response Forum (this will be in the general discussion board area).
Leadership Profile (4)
The student will complete 4 Leadership Profiles. For each Leadership Profile, the student will complete the assigned questionnaires, reflect on his/her strengths and weaknesses, and then create an action plan for applying this information. Each Leadership Profile must be at least 300 words and must conform to current APA format.
Leadership Journal (2)
The student will submit 2 Leadership Journal entries. For each entry, the student will answer the assigned questions by providing explanations as well as relevant examples. Each Leadership Journal entry must be 350–400 words and must conform to current APA format.
Research Paper – Leaders from the Bible
The student will write a research-based paper of at least 2,000 words in current APA format that applies the leadership theories from the course to a leader from the Bible. The paper must include at least 8 references in addition to the course textbooks and the Bible.
Each quiz will cover the Reading & Study material for the assigned modules/weeks. Each quiz will be open-book/open-notes, contain 20 multiple-choice questions, and have a 60-minute time limit.
