Leadership Theory and Practice is a foundational course for each student pursuing the Leadership cognate. This course presents the theoretical framework for leadership and provides opportunities for the student to explore his or her personal leadership tendencies, allowing the student to further develop his or her God-given leadership potential. The course also directly supports each program learning outcome through the course readings, interactions, and assignments that address leadership development.

Discussions (4)

Discussions are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, the student is required to provide a thread in response to the provided prompt. The threads and replies will be broken up over 2 Module: Weeks, with the thread in the first Module: Week and the replies in the following. Each thread must be 300 words, demonstrate course-related knowledge, and include at least 3 scholarly references (1 scholarly reference, 1 reference to a course textbook, and 1 reference to the Bible). In addition to the thread, the student is required to reply to 2 other classmates’ threads. Each reply must be at least 150 words and contain at least 1 scholarly reference or reference to the course textbook or Bible. Threads and replies must be in current APA format.

Personal Philosophy of Leadership: Bibliography Assignment

The student will submit a bibliography in current APA format that focuses on his or her leadership paper. The paper must include at least 8 references in addition to the course textbook and the Bible, each with a brief description of why the resource was selected (3–5 sentences).

Personal Philosophy of Leadership: Paper Assignment

The student will write a 1,500–2,000-word paper, not including the title page, abstract, and bibliography, in current APA format that focuses on his or her philosophy of leadership, including at least 5 self-assessments from the course textbook of his or her leadership style and tendencies. The paper must include the updated bibliography page with at least 8 scholarly references in addition to the course textbook and the Bible.

Case Study Assignments (12)

Multiple-choice Case Studies will cover the Learn material for the Module: Week in which they are assigned. Case Studies will be open-book/open-notes and have no time limit.

Quizzes (2)

Each quiz is cumulative and will cover the Learn material for the previous Modules: Weeks. Each quiz will be open-book/open-notes, contain 50 multiple-choice and true/false questions, and have a time limit of 1-hour and 15-minutes.
