Fantasy literature has arguably become the most influential and widely experienced creative genre of the modern age. From how we understand genres of literature, to how we experience cinema, to how we converse about theology, the influence of fantasy literature on western culture is as undeniable as it is intriguing. This class will be an investigation into the nature of that intrigue. We will live in the questions of what is fantasy literature and why do its most famous texts continue to make such an indelible impression on our popular and intellectual lives?
