Rationale
Many applications in science, engineering, and elsewhere involve large datasets which may contain thousands of variables or more. These variables need to be analyzed together in order to extract useful information. This course introduces a collection of methods for studying such multivariate data.

Homework Assignments (8)
The student will complete one homework assignment per module, which may involve data analysis via either paper-and-pencil calculations or programming exercises (or both). For each assignment, the student will download the problem set and work through the homework assignment. The student must show the intermediate steps leading up to the solution in detail.
Literature Review Project Assignment
For this assignment the student will choose one of two papers provided to read and provide a 500-word summary describing the scientific context and conclusions, with a special focus on the statistical methods involved. Then, the student will record a video in which he/she verbally describes the same information. The video should not exceed 5 minutes, and the student’s face should be visible during the video to verify his/her identity. Slides must be included for visual aids.
Quiz: Midterm Exam
This quiz will cover the first half of the course content. The quiz is open-book/open-notes, contains 1 file upload question, has a 2-hour time limit, and is limited to 1 attempt.
Quiz: Final Exam
This quiz will cover the second half of the course content. The quiz is open-book/open-notes, contains 1 file upload question, has a 2-hour time limit, and is limited to 1 attempt.
