Rationale
This elective practicum provides additional supervised clinical experience in marriage and family therapy (MFT) for students who need to fulfill minimum client contact hours or who seek further training in systemic therapy. Students will refine their case conceptualization, assessment, and intervention skills while integrating ethical and faith-based considerations into their practice. Emphasis is placed on clinical competency, professional development, and preparation for independent licensure.

Telemental Health Policy Assignment
The student must fill out and collect signatures from their Site Supervisors in order to complete the Telemental Health Policy Form and then submit it in Canvas.
Telemental Health Training Completion Certificate Assignment
The student must submit the completed Telemental Health Training Certificate verifying that he/she has completed Liberty University’s provided telemental health training before conducting any telemental health services.
Case Conceptualization Assignments (2)
The student will develop two separate Case Conceptualization papers based upon current clients he/she are seeing at his/her internship site. While the Case Conceptualization Example that is provided on the Case Conceptualization Assignment page may imply a first session intake, the student may adapt this paper to either an initial intake, or a client that the student has been seeing for several sessions. The paper will include a treatment plan, an ethics section, and a multi-cultural section.
Video and Verbatim Assignments (2)
The student will complete at least two taped counseling sessions with verbatim transcriptions.
Faculty Supervisor CCS-R Evaluation Assignment
The student will not submit anything for this assignment. The student’s faculty supervisor will submit a final CCS-R evaluation at the end of the semester incorporating feedback from the student’s Site Supervisor(s), Case Presentations, and other relevant course assignments. The student is encouraged to download a copy for your records.
Quiz: Policy
The quiz will cover the Marriage and Family Therapy Internship Fieldwork Manual. The student will have 60 minutes to choose the correct answer for 1 true/false question.
Quiz: ACA Code of Ethics
The quiz will cover the American Counseling Association (ACA) code of ethics. The student will have 60 minutes to choose the correct answer for 25 multiple-choice and true/false questions.
Quiz: Site and Supervisor Information
The student will have 1 hour to answer two short-answer questions.
Quiz: Liability Insurance Verification
The student must submit a copy of liability insurance in order to prove that he/she has maintained liability insurance throughout the Practicum and the three Internship courses. The student may not begin or continue to remain in practicum or an internship without appropriate liability insurance.
Reading Quizzes (7)
The student will complete 4 reading quizzes over chapters 8-11 of the Jungers & Scott textbook. The student will have 30 minutes to choose the correct answer for 5 multiple-choice questions. The student will also complete three reading quizzes that cover chapters 6, 11, and 12 of the Thomas textbook. The student will have 30 minutes to choose the correct answer for 5 multiple-choice questions.
Quiz: HIPAA Privacy Authorization and Release Confirmation Form (2)
The student will complete a quiz for each Case Presentation Assignment to verify that his/her clients have completed and signed the HIPAA Privacy Authorization & Release Confirmation Form, provided a copy to his/her client, and retained copy for himself/herself that has been stored in a secure location. Note: A copy of the signed form should not be uploaded for this quiz.
Quiz: Supervisor Evaluation (2)
The student will download the “Midterm/Final Evaluation” forms found on the either the Quiz: Supervisor Evaluation: Midterm page or the Quiz: Supervisor Evaluation: Final page and give them to his/her supervisor(s) to complete. The student will then scan the evaluation forms and submit them via them to the respective quiz. The student who does not receive passing evaluations during the course will work with the supervisor and Liberty University internship faculty to develop a plan to correct any deficits. An “F” in the practicum/internship due to unethical or improper behavior at a site results in expulsion from the Center for Counseling and Family Studies.

The student will complete this quiz in order to determine if he/she may request a third semester.

Quiz: Diagnosis
This Quiz: Diagnosis will cover the textbook material for the assigned Modules: Weeks and include 5 multiple-choice and true/false questions. The student will have 25 minutes to complete the quiz.
Quiz: Dispositions Reflection
The student will rate him/herself on the nine dispositions required for this program. The quiz will contain 9 multiple-choice questions and 1 essay question and is limited to 1 hour. The student is allowed 1 attempt to complete the quiz.
