Course Requirements Checklist
After reading the Course Syllabus and Student Expectations, the student will complete the related checklist found in the Course Overview.
Internship Assessment Assignment
The student will write a 2–3-page paper according to APA Style. A title page and references page must be included but will not count toward the page total. While no sources except the Bible are required, they are greatly encouraged. This assignment gives the student a chance to consider the internship in perspective. The student will describe the location, goals, duties, and setting of the internship and focus on how the location was chosen, how it will serve the student’s future vocational aspirations, and how it will advance his or her Christian worldview. This assignment may be written in first person and must be clear, concise, poignant, and well organized, with no grammar or spelling errors.
Time Log and Update Assignments (8)
Throughout the course, the student must submit 8 Time Log and Update Assignments. Each submission must contain a brief written overview of the work or research completed throughout the module of the internship. This overview must not exceed 1 paragraph and must be clear, concise, and poignant, with no grammar or spelling errors. In addition, the student must submit a work log of all the hours completed throughout the module. This log must be signed by the student’s internship supervisor. A form for this assignment is provided.
Learning Objective Self-Evaluation Assignment
The student will write a 2–3-page paper according to APA Style. A title page and references page must be included but will not count toward the page total. While no sources except the Bible are required, they are greatly encouraged. This assignment will allow the student to reflect on 3 learning objectives set by the student and his or her supervisor before the internship. The student will use a set of prompts to perform a self-evaluation, which is a practice that he or she will encounter annually at most jobs in the future, by looking at what objectives were set and how he or she plans to meet those objectives through the internship. This assignment may be written in first person and must be clear, concise, and well organized, with no grammar or spelling errors.
Mid-Term Reflection Assignment
The student will write a 2–3-page paper according to APA Style. A title page and references page must be included but will not count toward the page total. While no sources except the Bible are required, they are greatly encouraged. The assignment will allow the student to reflect on the internship and how it is going, using a set of prompts and employing direct examples from the internship. The student will be given an opportunity to discuss what he or she has learned and how the student was prepared for that type of work. This assignment may be written in first person and must be clear, concise, poignant, and well organized, with no grammar or spelling errors.
Ethical Standards and Dilemmas Assignment
The student will write a 2–3-page paper according to APA Style. A title page and references page must be included but will not count toward the page total. While no sources except the Bible are required, they are greatly encouraged. The assignment gives the student a chance to consider an often neglected topic: ethical standards. The student will examine how this topic relates to the current internship or the student’s planned career through a set of prompts by detailing the ethical standards in the field and discussing an ethical dilemma that has arisen or could arise in the student’s workplace. This assignment may be written in first person and must be clear, concise, poignant, and well organized, with no grammar or spelling errors.
Supervisor Evaluation Assignment
At the end of the internship, the student’s internship supervisor must complete the Supervisor Evaluation Form. The supervisor must completely fill out the form, print it, initial the bottom of each page, sign the final page, and give it to the student, who will submit it for the faculty advisor to review. The student must give his or her supervisor the form in enough time for it to be completed and returned by the due date. If the supervisor would rather submit the evaluation form directly to the faculty advisor, the student must provide the faculty advisor’s email address to the supervisor.
Final Reflection Assignment
The student will write a 4–5-page paper according to APA Style. A title page and references page must be included but will not count toward the page total. While no sources except the Bible are required, they are greatly encouraged. The assignment will allow the student to reflect on the internship and how it went over the entire period, using a set of prompts and employing direct examples from the internship. The student will be given an opportunity to discuss what he or she learned and how the student was prepared for that type of work. This assignment may be written in first person and must be clear, concise, poignant, and well organized, with no grammar or spelling errors.
