Course Requirements Checklist
After reading the Course Syllabus and Student Expectations, the student will complete the related checklist found in the Course Overview.
Discussion Thread: Class Introductions
The student will introduce him/herself to others in the course by posting a 400-word thread in response to the provided questions. As a part of this discussion assignment, the student will be required to reply to 2 introduction posts of his/her classmates. Each of these replies must be at least 100 words.
Discussions (8)
Discussions are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, the student is required to create a thread in response to the provided prompt. Each thread must be at least 400 words, demonstrate course-related knowledge, and include at least 2 scholarly citations in current APA format. In addition to each thread, the student is required to reply to 2 other classmates’ threads. Each reply must be at least 200 words and have at least 1 scholarly citation in current APA format. Any sources cited must have been published within the last 5 years and acceptable sources include the textbook, the Bible, journal articles, magazines, and newspapers.
Organizational Change Assessment Project
For part 1 of this organizational change assessment project, the student must identify an organization where significant change initiatives have been conducted, including an overview and justification of the specific change event chosen and a review of all of the participating implementers and stakeholders involved with the chosen change event. This assignment must be 2 to 4 pages, not including the title and reference pages, formatted according to APA style, and include at least 2 references in addition to the course textbook.
Organizational Change Assessment Project
This second phase of this project builds upon the proposal/introduction phase already with an analysis of the chosen organization. The analysis section of the project paper must provide a detailed overview of a recent change event within the student’s previously selected organization, noting relevant dynamics of this change process including nature of the change outcomes desired, the results of the change process, any unintended outcomes, and any other factors that the student believes may have instigated or affected this chosen change event. Part 2 must be 4 to 6 pages, not including the title and reference pages, formatted according to APA style, and include at least 4 references in addition to the course textbook.
Organizational Change Assessment Project
This final phase of this project brings together the draft sections already created earlier in this course with an evaluation/conclusions section to form the basis of a complete project paper. The evaluation/conclusions section of the project paper must provide a critical examination of a recent change event within the student’s previously selected organization, being both complimentary and critical of the organization’s change processes and the strategic communication in support of these processes. The student must make his/her evaluations using the three main activity tracks for managing the change process: (1) managing meaning, (2) managing network, and (3) managing practice. Each of these three activity tracks must then be evaluated using each of the four general strategic tools for accomplishing the change process: (1) monitoring and articulating goals, (2) developing a strategic communication plan and messages, (3) analyzing input, and (4) influencing the implementation climate. Finally, the student will write a conclusion section, noting the major successes and failures of the chosen change event. Part 3 must be 4 to 6 pages, not including the title and reference pages, formatted according to APA style, and include at least 4 references in addition to the course textbook.
The complete final paper must be at least 10, but no more than 16, pages, not including the title page, abstract, and reference page. The final paper must be formatted according to APA style and include at least 10 sources in addition to the course textbook, noting that more scholarly articles are preferred to those sources that come from organizational, business, trade, or professional news outlets, magazines, or websites. Changes to any part of the final project paper, including addressing feedback from the two previously submitted phases, are both allowed and encouraged.
Quizzes (5)
The student will complete 5 quizzes that cover the assigned readings and lectures. Each quiz will consist of 12 multiple-choice questions and be worth a total of 60 points. Each quiz allows 1 attempt, has a 30-minute time limit, and is open-book/open-notes.
