Rationale
The purpose of this course is to introduce the student to practice and policy aspects of global social work. Biological, psychological, social, and spiritual factors will be considered from a strengths perspective as they relate to global social work.

Discussions (2)
Discussions are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, the student will complete two Discussions in this course. The student will post one thread of at least 350 words and then post two replies of at least 200 words. For each thread, the student must support his/her assertions with at least one scholarly citation in current APA format as well as one citation from the course textbook in current APA format. Each reply must incorporate at least one citation from a scholarly source in current APA format. Any sources cited must have been published within the last five years. Acceptable sources include the course textbook, the Bible, and other scholarly sources. The student’s initial thread must also include biblical application as assigned by the prompt.
Theory and Concept Paper Assignment
This assignment aims to deepen your understanding of a key theory in social work and its practical applications. By exploring how social work theories shape practice in diverse global contexts, you will gain insight into their utility in addressing the needs of individuals, communities, and societies. The focus is on learning social work theory and applying it to real-world challenges.
For this assignment, the student will select a theory relevant to social work practice and analyze how this theory is applied globally in social work. The student must then provide at least two detailed examples illustrating how the chosen theory has been applied in real-world social work practice. The student must use at least three references, published within the last five years, to support the analysis. Additionally, he/she will include insights from the course textbook as part of your research. The student will also reflect on the cultural sensitivity and global impact of the chosen theory. The paper should be 2–3 pages in length and formatted according to current APA style.
PowerPoint Presentation Assignment
This assignment is designed to help you explore a specialized topic related to international social work, enhancing your cultural competence and broadening your understanding of global issues. By researching and presenting this topic, you will connect your knowledge to Christian values and develop skills to advance generalist social work practice in a global context. The student will create a 7-slide PowerPoint presentation on a special topic related to international social work suitable for a Christian high school audience. The presentation must demonstrate thorough research, critical thinking, and a biblical perspective. The slides should be visually engaging, but the design must not distract from the content. The presentation must use at least 3 scholarly resources. These resources must be properly cited in current APA format on a final slide (reference page).
Disaster Plan Assignment
This assignment requires you to analyze your community’s disaster response plan, highlighting its scope, the role of social work, and areas for improvement. You will incorporate concepts from the course textbook and align your analysis with social work core values and Scripture. After locating and identifying a disaster response plan, the student will write a 2-3 page response paper to the disaster plan.

There are four quizzes for this class. Each quiz will be open-book/open-notes. Each quiz will cover the Learn material for the assigned module. Each quiz has no time limit and can only be taken one time. Three quizzes will contain 20 multiple-choice questions. The Quiz: Survey has 4 short answer questions.
