Discussions are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, these Discussions are designed to allow the student to interact with the presentations. Each Discussion must include a 200–250-word thread and at least one 100–150-word reply to either a fellow student or a question posed by the instructor. Also, each Discussion must reflect at least 1 reference to the source of the student’s opinion, cited in current APA format. (CLO: A, B, C)
The student will complete one of the following:
- A PowerPoint presentation (at least 10 content slides, not counting the title slide or reference slide) with key concepts presented on the slides and a narrative script of at least 50 words per slide in the notes section or in a recorded sound clip of the student presenting the information.
- A brochure (in Word or Publisher) in bifold or trifold format, designed to provide information to a community or church group regarding sexual addiction, how to recognize it, and resources available. Information or illustrations must be contained on both sides of the paper (8.5 x 11 inches or 8.5 by 14 inches), and a separate reference page must be submitted with the brochure.
The purpose of this project is to assist the student in becoming familiar with the various aspects of help for clients in their recovery. For either format, the student must provide an introduction that forecasts the remainder of the presentation/brochure to the reader/listener and contains a clear and concise thesis statement (located on the first slide after the title slide or on the front of the brochure). The student must also provide an introduction to sexual addiction, requirements for diagnosis, treatment information, a brief description of at least 2 resources available to the audience (including information on locating the resources and on the goals of the organizations providing the resources), and references in current APA format. The presentation/brochure must be appealing and interesting and use illustrations, graphs, charts, etc., to enhance the topic and information. All information contained in the presentation/brochure must be accurate. (CLO: F)
The purpose of this assignment is to encourage the student to explore more deeply a topic covered in the course. The student will choose a topic from the provided list and construct a PowerPoint presentation of at least 10 content slides to explain the topic more thoroughly, with a script (at least 50 words for each content slide) in the notes section. The presentation must contain at least 3 references from the course material and/or outside sources. (CLO: A, C, D)
This assignment is the student’s opportunity to explore in more depth a topic of interest from some of the areas that have been covered in this course. Whatever the topic, it should relate to sexual addiction and its effects. This presentation should be constructed for an academic audience. The student will choose a topic from the provided list in the Research PowerPoint Assignment Instructions (or seek instructor approval for an unlisted topic) and construct a PowerPoint presentation of at least 25 slides (not counting the title slide or reference slide) in current APA format. The student must include a script of at least 50 words for each slide in the notes section or in a recorded sound clip of the student presenting the information. The presentation must contain at least 6 references from outside sources (not including course textbooks) from current scholarly journals (published within the last five years). (CLO: A, C, D)
