Rationale
The purpose of this course is for the student to develop a deep understanding of how the military operates and the impacts on national security. It is an essential element in understanding any other elements of military activities, such as logistics, planning, or intelligence, because they all feed into the function of operations.
Course Assignment
Discussions (4)
Discussions are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, the student is required to provide a thread in response to the provided prompt for each Discussion. Each thread must be 500–750 words and demonstrate course-related knowledge. In addition to the thread, the student is required to reply to 2 other classmates’ threads. Each reply must be 250-300 words. A minimum of 5 scholarly references are required and can be from course required reading with a minimum of 2 references outside of required readings. Any references and citations must be in current Turabian format.

Select a conflict from the course texts or from a scholarly text of your choosing. Analyze the composition of forces and explain how the forces were chosen, allocated, organized and deployed in the conflict or operation selected. Ensure that the conflict selected represents a joint military force. Integrate Biblical principles into the research.
The case study research paper must be 8-10 double-spaced pages in length, not including title page and reference list. The paper must be in current Turabian style with default margins and in 12-pt Times New Roman font and submitted in an MS Word document. The paper must include a title page and reference page also in current Turabian format. You must include citations to a sufficient number of appropriate scholarly sources to fully support your assertions and conclusions (which will likely require more than the minimum number of citations); each paper must contain at least 5-7 scholarly sources original to this paper.
Compare and contrast multinational operations in Iraq and Afghanistan wars. What were some of the limitations or problems that arose out of the multinational character of these operations? Identify differing political perspectives and interests of some of the coalition partners.

Choose a military operation involving any actors and during any era. Analyze each of the aspects of military operations (joint, interagency, intergovernmental, multinational, civil society) and conclude with recommendations on how integration of these aspects did or did not affect the outcome of the operation.
The final case study research paper must be 14-16 double-spaced pages in length, not including title page and reference list. The paper must be in current Turabian style with default margins and in 12-pt Times New Roman font and submitted in an MS Word document. The paper must include a title page and reference page also in current Turabian format. You must include citations to a sufficient number of appropriate scholarly sources to fully support your assertions and conclusions (which will likely require more than the minimum number of citations); each paper must contain at least 9 scholarly sources original to this paper.
