MISC 540 Military Logistics

The purpose of this course is to provide students with an introduction to military logistics. This is accomplished by examining the history of the origins of logistical methods and organizations in the western world, culminating with the development of the modern US military structure. The organization and logistical sustainment of the US military under the auspices of Joint Doctrine provides a current picture and relevancy.

The presentation will be composed of 10 content slides, 1 title slide, and 1 summary slide, for a total of 12 slides. Additionally, the student will include at least 150 words of presentation notes in the Notes section of each PowerPoint slide.

Midterm Exam Essay Assignment

This paper will help the student understand the various factors which impacted logistical support to armies during the early period of the modern era in western Europe. This paper must be 3 full pages in length in Turabian format, and must include a minimum of 3 scholarly sources using books, journals, and websites. Websites that end in .mil, .gov, or .edu are acceptable. Websites that end in .com or .org must not be used.

Final Exam Essay Assignment

This assignment will help the student draw together the major themes and the thesis of this class by allowing the student to choose from a variety of topics a path towards individual research in an area of his/her specific interest.
