ENGI 450 Human Factors and Ergonomics
Course Description
Human biological and psychological capabilities and limitations in the industrial setting. Topics include techniques and methods for applying the principles of human factors engineering and ergonomics to systems design.

Rationale
This course enhances the professional skills of the students by connecting the knowledge of the general studies with the knowledge of the professional area; in this case the understanding of the capabilities and the limitations of the human within industrial and consumer settings. As such, the course covers broad range of topic including the environmental and work center conditions affecting human performance as product specific design guidelines with user-centric design approaches.

Written Report Assignments (2)
This class has two written reports of a maximum five pages. The first one is worth 50 points, the second one is worth 100 points, and there will be peer review. Students will be divided into teams. Make-ups will be permitted through Liberty University policies. (CLO: A, B, C, D, E).
The student will complete 5 homework assignments that are to be done individually. The student will use the attached file and place his or her answers below the questions. Save as a Word document and then upload. (CLO: A, C, D)
The Final Presentation Assignment will be based on the student’s Written Report: Physical and Cognitive Risk Factors Assignment. This is a group project. Each group should work together to find another task and then perform the same type of analysis that they did for their second Written Report. Students will work with their partners to complete this assignment. It should be a presentation done as a narrated PowerPoint and uploaded. The presentations should be between 10-15 minutes total, or 4-5 minutes per student. Students are required to show images of the before and after task (the after version can be a drawing or a simulated task). Each team member should present a portion of the presentation. Content from the presentations will be on the final exam. (CLO: A, B, C, D, E)
