The candidate will gain in-depth knowledge and understanding of the field of educational psychology and apply this to his or her personal career interests. An advanced study of the latest topics gives the candidate a theoretical foundation and will provide practical ways to implement interventions to promote learning in academic environments.

Discussions (2)

Discussions are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, the candidate will participate in 2 discussions. Each discussion will be completed in 2 parts. The initial thread must be at least 400 words and address the provided prompt. The candidate must then post 2 replies of at least 200 words. For each thread, the student must support his or her assertions with at least 2 scholarly citations in current APA format. (CLO: A, B, C, D, E)

Elevator Speech Assignment

The candidate will review current research to formulate an opinion on brain-based learning activities. The candidate will explore alternate opinions and determine if current programs are overreaching. After examining 10 different sources, he/she will submit a reference page in APA format and an elevator speech related to his/her research findings. The recorded elevator speech must be a minimum of 45 seconds and must not exceed 1 minute. The content must include arguments related to the literature examined and visuals. (CLO: A)

Career Interest PowerPoint Assignment

The candidate will construct a 10-15 slide PowerPoint Presentation that completes an investigation on potential career opportunities in the field of educational psychology. The candidate will identify a career and interest and include positions currently available, credentials required to enter this field, and why he/she is interested in pursuing this field as a career. The PowerPoint must include at least 5 sources in current APA format and must include a biblical worldview. (CLO: A, E)

Data Analysis Assignment

The candidate will write a 1,000-1,500-word analysis after a comprehensive review of data from the lowest performing school in the district. The candidate will use the end of year report card data to synthesize strengths and areas for improvement. The assignment must include at least 3 different areas (ex: accreditation, academic achievement, achievement gap, student engagement, etc.) from the end of year school report findings and 1-2 areas of concern. The paper must be written in current APA format and include an APA formatted citation of the website where the information was retrieved. (CLO: C)

Critical Literature Review Assignment

The candidate will write a 1,500-2,000-word paper in current APA format. The paper must reflect upon the comprehensive review of data from the lowest performing school in the district. The candidate will make recommendations as an educational psychology consultant. The candidate must integrate a theory to address the problem(s) and create interventions to improve the learning environment. The paper must include at least 10 scholarly sources in current APA format to support the claims. (CLO: B, C, D, E)

Collaborative Learning Reflective Journal Assignment

Collaborative learning continues to hold an important position in educational psychology and the learning sciences. The candidate will construct a reflective journal after reading Chapter 26 in the required text. This journal will compare and contrast instructional methods and explain how the topic has impacted the candidate professionally. Topics that can be integrated include technology support, knowledge building, inquiry-based learning, and different theoretical approaches. The reflection should be 500-700 words and include a minimum of 3 sources in APA format. (CLO: A, B)

There are 4 quizzes for the candidate to complete after he/she has reviewed the chapter readings. Each quiz will be 20 multiple-choice questions, open-book/open-notes, allow 1 attempt, and have a 2-hour time limit. (CLO: B, C)
