A study of the curriculum evaluation process focusing on the beliefs and practices of curriculum evaluation, the relationship between evaluation and curriculum improvement, and the relationship between theory and practice of curriculum evaluation.

The purpose of this course is to provide knowledge on how to improve curriculum through practical evaluation skills based upon current pedagogies. The candidate will focus on relevant topics and theories associated with curriculum evaluation and determine what changes should be implemented to existing curriculum.

Discussions (6)

Discussions are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, the candidate is required to provide a thread in response to the provided prompt for each Discussion. Each thread must be 300 words and demonstrate course-related knowledge with a minimum of 2 citations and 1 Scripture reference in current APA format, including a reference list at the end of each thread. In addition to the thread, the candidate is required to reply to 2 other classmates’ threads. Each reply must be 150 words with a minimum of 1 citation in current APA format. (CLO: B, C, F)

Curriculum Plan Evaluation Assignments (2)

Based upon the assigned course readings, the candidate will take what he/she has learned to evaluate a curriculum plan and critique either an individual lesson or an overall unit utilizing the provided Curriculum Plan Evaluation Template. The evaluation must be at least 400–500 words in current APA format. The candidate must show his/her understanding of effective curriculum development and how to improve an existing plan. Article Review Assignments (3)

Based upon the assigned course readings, the candidate will take what he/she has learned to evaluate published articles on technology with ethical and social responsibility implications. The candidate should utilize the provided Article Review Template and each review must be in current APA format. Each review must be 2 pages, open with a thesis statement, and contain an article analysis, a topical analysis, and a personal reflection. The article being reviewed should be the only source cited, with the sole exception being the optional integration of Scripture. The candidate must show his/her understanding of technology and its effects on individuals and/or society. (CLO: B, C, F)

Curriculum Evaluation Paper Assignment

The candidate will write a 7–8-page paper in current APA format that focuses on how he/she would evaluate a school or organization’s curriculum. The paper must cite a minimum of 8 scholarly references and 1 Scripture reference. (CLO: B, C, E, F)

Professional Development Plan Assignment

The candidate will design a PowerPoint presentation explaining his/her plan to provide professional development on curriculum evaluation for a school or organization. This presentation must be no less than 10–12 slides and include a minimum of 6 scholarly references and 2 Scripture references. (CLO: B, C, D, E, F)
