Rationale
Under the direction of the methodologist, the doctoral candidate will complete his or her dissertation prospectus with a specific focus on alignment among his or her research problem, question(s), design, and analysis. The final outcome of the course is a dissertation prospectus ready to be developed into a full dissertation proposal under the guidance of the candidate’s chair and committee member(s).

Discussions are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, the candidate is required to create a thread in response to the provided prompt for each discussion. Each thread must be 350–400 words and demonstrate course-related knowledge as well as integration of biblical principles. Prospectus Assignments (5)
Prospectus: Chapter 1 Assignment
The candidate will submit a well-developed draft of the first chapter of his/her prospectus. The candidate will revise and improve upon every section based on the research plan developed in EDDR 915 or EDDR 919. The submission must be a minimum of 10 pages of content. The candidate must include at least 25 different, unique sources on the references pages at the end of the document. (CLO: B, C)
Prospectus: Chapter 2 – Overview and Theoretical Framework Assignment
The candidate will submit a well-developed draft of the Overview and Theoretical Framework sections of Chapter 2 of the quantitative dissertation prospectus. The submission must be a minimum of 6 pages of content if there is one theory and 8 pages of content if more than one theory is used, beginning with Chapter 2: Overview and ending with Chapter 2: Theoretical Framework section. This chapter must include a minimum of 15 – 20 different, unique sources, depending on whether one or more theories are used, along with the accompanying reference pages following the quantitative template in the Dissertation Handbook. The candidate will revise and improve upon every section based on the research plan developed in EDDR 915 or EDDR 919. (CLO: B, C)
Prospectus: Chapter 2 – Related Literature Assignment
The candidate will submit a well-developed draft of the second chapter of the Prospectus. The submission must be a minimum of 20 pages of content beginning with the Chapter 2: Overview section and ending with the Chapter 2: Summary section. The Overview and Theoretical Framework sections must be a minimum of 6–8-pages with the remaining 12–14 pages making up the Related Literature and Summary sections of Chapter 2, totaling 20 pages. This chapter must include a minimum of 50 different unique sources and accompanying reference pages. (CLO: B, C)
Prospectus: Chapter 3 Assignment
The candidate will submit a well-developed 10-page draft of the third chapter of his/her prospectus following the quantitative template in the Dissertation Handbook. The candidate will revise and improve upon every section within Chapter 3 based upon the research plan developed in EDDR 915 or EDDR 919. (CLO: B, C)
Prospectus: Final Submission Assignment
The candidate will submit a 40-page, updated, full dissertation prospectus, including a literature review of Chapter 2. The candidate must include at least 60 references in current APA format to support the paper. (CLO: C)
Dissertation Committee Form Assignment
The candidate will complete the Dissertation Committee Form after creating his/her dissertation committee. After completing the form, the candidate will upload a screenshot to verify completion of the form. (CLO: D)
Quiz: Dissertation Process
The quiz will cover the Dissertation Handbook. The quiz will be open-book/open-notes, contain 10 multiple-choice questions, and have a 1-hour time limit. (CLO: A)
Quiz: Plagiarism Awareness
The quiz will cover the LU Academic Honesty Policy and the current APA Manual’s plagiarism policy. The quiz will be open-book/open-notes, contain 4 multiple-choice questions, and have a 1-hour time limit. (CLO: A)
Quiz: Securing a Chair
The quiz will cover the Dissertation Handbook information on how to identify and contact a chair. The quiz will be open-book/open-notes, contain 5 yes/no questions, and have a 1-hour time limit. (CLO: A, D)
