Knowing that certain techniques of communication will produce certain responses, and knowing how to apply them in appropriate contexts will allow the student to be more productive in personal, academic, and professional life. Knowing strategies and models of conflict resolution to use in contexts that involve political, religious, cultural and professional challenges provide a base for further study in business, leadership, cross-cultural relations, counseling, and personal conflict resolution.

Discussions (4)

Discussions are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, the student will participate in 4 Discussions throughout this course. The student will post 1 thread of at least 400 words. Each thread must be supported by at least 3 scholarly citations and 1 biblical citation. The student will post 2 replies of at least 250 words. Each reply must be supported by at least 2 scholarly citations from peer-reviewed sources and 1 citation from a course textbook. All references must be published within the last 5-7 years and cited in current APA format.   

Video Discussion: Class Introductions

Discussions are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, the student will complete 1 Video Discussion in this course. The student will post 1 video of approximately 2 minutes in length. The use of Kaltura as the recording and submission tool is preferred. The student must then post 2 replies of at least 150 words each. This introductory thread is conversational; therefore, no specific citations are required in the video or in the replies.

Brief Assignments (3)

The student will prepare a brief—the marketplace equivalent of a research project—that engages theory and application regarding specific aspects of conflict management. Briefs are audience-specific and encourage integrated connections to course content in applied contexts. Each brief is based on a different challenge and must be 1,000 words and include 5 citations (1 biblical reference, 2 scholarly citations from peer-reviewed sources, and 2 citations from the course textbooks).
