BUSI 457 Strategic Management in Healthcare Systems

This healthcare management capstone course examines critical aspects of planning and implementing strategy in a healthcare organization. Students will apply strategic decision making to relevant, real-life and hypothetical situations in healthcare systems. Additionally, students will practice creating a strategic plan to address a current issue in a healthcare organization.

Case Study Assignments (6)

The student will complete 6 Case Study assignments, answering questions from the assigned case at the end of the assigned textbook chapters. Each case study must be a minimum of 3-4 pages of original discussion and analysis, not counting the title page, reference page, figures, tables, and appendixes. The statements in each Case Study must be supported by at least 3 scholarly, peer-reviewed sources, the course textbook, and the Bible.

SWOT Analysis Assignment

The administrative function of an organization must be in strategic alignment with the mission of the company. This assignment will provide the student with an opportunity to analyze an assigned organization and its current market position. This assignment will require the student to conduct an analysis of the assigned organization using a SWOT. The student will submit a SWOT Matrix and Analysis including internal and external analysis based on research and quantifiable, measurable metrics. Each quadrant should include a bullet list of 8-10 items, and each bulleted item must contain an in-text citation from a valid, reliable source, for a total of at least 8 scholarly sources.

Strategic Plan Assignment

This assignment will provide the student with an opportunity to analyze an assigned organization, its current market position and make a recommendation for a strategic goal to be implemented. The student will have an opportunity to create a strategic plan to accomplish the recommended goal. Following the provided outline, the student will complete an 8–10-page executive summary/narrative in APA format, based on the data analyzed. The student should include at least 8 scholarly, peer-reviewed sources.
