BMAL 780 Strategic Leadership in the 21st Century
Course Description
This is the capstone class for the Doctorate in Strategic Leadership DSL program that allows students to synthesize knowledge gained in previous courses into a cohesive view of leadership. This course focuses on the critical knowledge and skills that leaders must master in order to be successful.

Rationale
The strategic leadership content of this course recaps learning outcomes that appear throughout the DSL program and is a cumulative, in-depth exploration of the leadership development process. Each week, the student explores and develops different components of strategic leadership development. This course supports the biblical mandate to make disciples and, consequently, develop leaders. This course supports the student to reflect on his/her own leadership development and call to serve and develop others.

Discussions (6)
Discussions are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, the student will complete six discussions in this course by responding to a provided prompt for each discussion. The initial post must be at least 400 words and demonstrate a knowledge in applying the weekly reading assignments. Then, the student must reply to at least 2 of his/her peers’ initial posts in a minimum of 250 words per reply. The initial post should be supported with a minimum of two scholarly sources. Each reply should be supported by at least one scholarly source. Any sources cited must have been published within the last five years. All sources must be properly cited and referenced in current APA format. Acceptable sources include academic level scholarly articles and books, a textbook, and the Bible. The student should refer to the instructions for slightly different source requirements for the Discussion Thread: New Insights.
Research Paper Assignments (3)
There are three formal research papers that should be a minimum of 4-5 pages of content, not including the title and reference pages. Each paper will respond to a unique prompt provided within the assignment instructions. No abstracts or Table of Contents (TOC) are required for these papers. They must be formatted to comply with current APA formatting. In addition to the text, at least 5 scholarly peer-reviewed sources must be included.
Annotated Bibliography Assignments (3)
There are three annotated bibliographies. Each annotated bibliography will be compiled in response to a unique prompt provided within the assignment instructions. Each bibliography should include a minimum of 8 peer reviewed articles with a 150-200 word summary for each source present. A minimum of 4-5 pages of content are required, not including the title and reference pages. No table of contents is required. All bibliography sources should also be listed a sperate reference page at the end of the document without any annotations present. Each annotated bibliography should be formatted in current APA style.
Literature Review Assignments (2)
There are two literature review assignments. Each literature review will be composed in response to a unique prompt provided within the assignment instructions. Each literature review should include a minimum of 8 peer-reviewed sources. A minimum of 4-5 pages of content is required, not including the title and reference pages. No table of contents is required. Both literature reviews should be formatted according to current APA style.
